"Poker software" isn't frowned upon, provided it's legit, legally allowed software according to the TOS of the sites you play at. Virtually all sites have lists and descriptions of the types of software both prohibited and allowed.

Hold'em Indicator is allowed by all sites that I'm aware of. And it can be an okay tool for beginning players who have trouble counting their outs and pot odds at the table, and who may be a bit overwhelmed by more comprehensive trackers. But as far as tracking goes, it's extremely basic. If you're serious about poker, beyond the basic recreational level and the penny stakes, you will be far better served by real tracking software like HEM or PT3.

Their cost is available on their web pages. ;)

About $90 for the full versions, a little more than half that for their low-stakes versions. And no, it's not a recurring cost, although like any software they may choose to charge for a major update at some point in the future. Both do offer optional add-ons that you can buy and integrate into the package. HEM offers more here than PT3 does.

I use Tourney Indicator and Omaha Indicator. I like them both and they are allowed by the major poker sites. The sites are trying to prevent bots and they also frown upon software that makes decisions for you. I think the software is also not allowed to make suggestions like fold call raise. Other than that HUDs are fine
