I'd be interested in views on HM2 as when it first came out the reports were a bit iffy and some new users weren't overly impressed. I'm not sure if this was just bugs in launch or whatever but I'd be interested in user experience now as I've had to update PS and FT to the new UK client and myfaithful HM1 won't work on it now. Nor do HEM support HM1 anymore which I can understand but before I shell out $60 on upgrading I thought I should canvass views first.
Thanks in advance!

HEM2 is an excellent program but incredibly processor hungry. My older machines can only just run it but not so well while playing. You may find that your hands are just not importing correctly into HEM1 anymore as the client has changed from pokerstars to pokerstars.uk. If you update the import folders in HEM1 to pokerstars.uk you may find they import again. With the recent upgrade to pokerstars7 I couldn't get HEM2 importing for a while until I figured this out so it may be fixable in HEM1. However, I'd advise you to upgrade to HEM2 at some point anyway as it does a lot more than HEM1 despite that there are still some bugs in it. To test out if you like it or not, why not try out the free trial and make your own mind up. Keep in mind though that HEM2 may seem a bit overwhelming at first compared to HEM1.

We suggest you try the 30 day free trials of both HM2 and PokerTracker 4. Both applications are owned by the same parent company (our companies merged this past summer - but we are keeping HM2 and PT4 separate), we encourage our potential users to try both and pick the choice that is best for their own personal workflow. Both HM2 and PT4 are excellent choices for former HM1 users - you would be well served by either one. Good luck, we hope your experience while upgrading is a pleasant one!

I think HM1 might still work for regular cash games on ps.uk if you configure it to auto import from the new ps.uk folders but I can't be sure as we no longer test/support the software and if it does work it is anyone's guess for how much longer it will work. It might also work with Zoom with some workarounds to copy over and rename the zoom specific files which you can find instructions for on our forums in the HM1 sub-forum. I expect it won't work well for tournament results as there have been some fixes in this area for HM2 since we stopped supporting HM1. Once Stars makes a change to their hand history format in a future update it could kill HM1 completely.

I would definitely agree with the other posters and suggest you try both PT4 and HM2 instead of relying on other's suggestions/recommendations and make your decision which you want to switch to based on which works best for your own workflow before HM1 no longer works at all.

You can try both using the 30-day trial for both and see what fits your needs best.
