Hello. I know this has probably been asked countless of times but I couldn't find exact answers to these questions by quickly browsing through.

Hold'Em Manager vs Pokertracker. Which one should i go for. What has been recently more popular/better and why? A year ago everyone said HeM and i remember PT3 trial being pretty buggy, but i've kept hearing PT3 might be the thing to get nowadays? I read from HeM site that people that buy HeM after May will get free upgrade to HeM2.

Also if i get HeM should i go for the 90$ pro version or smallstakes 55$ version. I play on microstakes, but would be annoyed if microstakes version misses a lot of features.

So any advice on this if anyone got experience of both? Thanks in advance.

IMO you cant go wrong with either one.

I have HEM, and got the full version straight off so I cant comment on your question about pro vs small stakes.

Both have trials, so best is just try each one and see what you like. I did that and found both good, I just went for HEM cause my poker coach liked it better.

why do you need a hud playing microstakes? It's only really useful if you plan on making serious money, if it's just a hobby, save the $100 and keep it in your bankroll.

All right ty for the answer. Well the thing is i've already tried both (kind of). PT3 a year ago and it was buggy because it was rather new but i got a feeling it might be better nowadays. Then HeM i tried little bit over 1 month ago. Tried it for 1 day and then i forgot about it and didn't even test the hud so. Didn't really try it at all properly.

Well i forgot to mention it's not only for micro. I find it would be really handy for this 1 league i play. That has pretty high level and small player pool so that would help with the reads on people a lot. I think it's the missing link in my game atm and I do need it because many other top players over there got it and also in micro cash games many use it actually and I don't want to give them that advantage where I don't have it and they do.

If you want to study your game and get better it's a pretty important tool to have. Tracking other players is just one thing this type of software offers. I personally think that tracking yourself is where you get the most value.

Ya check out the trials and decide for yourself is probably the best advice. I used PT2 for the longest time but HEM has kinda taken over the market for the past few years I believe. Its what I use now. I think its awesome.

if it's a 'small' player pool/league I'd think this would be even more of a reason to not need it:confused:

Honestly, i wish i didnt invest in half the tools i bought, And i played part time to boost my income for about half a year. It isn't worth it if you don't know how to set it up, use the stats, use the filters to improve your own play. Invest in coaching or poker sites beforehand if you are planning to take it seriously.

HEM has a small stakes edition for a significant discount ($55 rather than $90) You can later upgrade it to the full (pro) version later for another small fee, I think it's $45?

I tried both. HeM looks nicer, PT3 worked better on my netbook. In the end it's pretty much a matter of taste. I prefer PT3, others HeM but I believe that what is important is what you make of it and if it is relevant for your game.

What WizziM said is pretty right on. Using the stats and filters is paramount to getting the most out of a tracker. I find it more useful in being able to study my game when I am not playing. It does come in handy when multi tabling but also as PO mentioned above if you are playing single games with small player pool, honing your observation skills would be more beneficial than relying on software.

If the 100 + - $s mean nothing to you, then I guess why not. But think of it like any tool. DO you need it, or just wanna have it?

I actually spent a long session with my poker coach where he showed me how to use it to its fullest, and now am glad I have it, but had I not had someone show me how to really use the filters for ALL kinds of post play study, it would have cost me more money than it made me, since my decision making was not all that much better even with player stats showing.

I think it is because the Leack Buster. It is a helpfull tool .
But from my beginner point of view both trackers are as good.
BTW. Are you BlackRain79 from DTB?

Bingo. I rarely take my decisions based on the tracker . At micros the first 3 stats VPIP/PFR/AF are more than enough and you can use notes for every player to rate them even without a tracker. And I think a collor system like pokerstars has is much easier to use for this kind of stuff .I still think a tracker is a much usefull tool to learn and to adjust your play.
The best use for tracking others are the CC freerolls where other details than first 3 stats count as much.

If you choose HEM you can get the Leak Buster app which makes this cake. It goes through and analyses your stats and gives you a ton of filters to review with detailed video instructions on how to use them and how to correct certain things in your game that are costing you money. If you are serious about your game, these tools will help. It just takes some extra dedication.

Interesting, very interesting comments about the filters and Leakbuster. I did buy HeM couple days ago. I had PT3 trial a year ago and I guess because of that (PT3 was rather new back then, hence buggy) I shouldn't compare them, but if I do anyways HeM is much easier for me to use and alot less buggy (haven't found any yet).

One quick question. So Leakbuster is with HeM or would I need to buy it also?

It is with HEM.
SNG Wizard and Table ninja require registration.

I have the full HEM, and when I try to open leak buster, t tells me that I need to pay $80. So I am assuming that everyone else will as well.

I would like to know peoples opinions on leak buster.

Some peeps didn't see the logic of buying a tracking program to play micro stakes.
Back when I was playing $.01/$.02 games I was barely squeaking by with a profit. My biggest problem was that I made a lot of "oh it just costs another dime to see his cards and I'm winning anyway" kind of calls.
But getting the tracking software put every play on my permanent record. I hated seeing red stats for games, so I played as best as I could, making folds I otherwise wouldn't have made. All of those nickles and dimes added up.
The tracker was essential to my game because it kept me honest. (The software paid for itself fairly quickly)

It also let me go back and examine my statistics. For example, I could see how much money I was winning in each seat and if I saw that I was losing too much money in early position I could conclude that I'm probably need to tighten my range in early position.

I agree with SP, the best part of HEM is that it keeps you honest, your stats are down in black and white, you cant fool yourself into thinking you are a better player than you are, it makes you play better.
That is the main thing I use it for, just to check my win/lose stats cos all the filters etc just make my brain explode but thats probably cos I'm either too thick or too old for things to sink in, probably both :D
