I have I guess 150k hands in my current data base. I am going to re install everything on my PC, as it is REALLY weird and I am just gonna do a clean sweep and re format the HD and do a clean install.

I have not played much poker since April - not due to BF but work - so all my HH is prior to that.

I am thinking of not importing any old HH and starting new. I have the HH saved so I can still use them if I need to. My reason for this is that a lot of my play was from drunk nights donking around etc. as well as old HH when I thought calling in MP with A3o was a good move and so on.

My approach to poker is much different now, and is changing every day. I have had a break due to work, and will now start slowly getting back into it. I have a coach, and I will be actively reviewing and analyzing my game, as well as having outside analysis.

So, my point: A lot of my old play does not reflect my new attitude and way of playing. Does it make sense to start anew, so I get an accurate read on my play as it is now? I know it will be a few months before I have enough HH to get any kind of useful info. Also the old players in my DB may be gone now due to BF so many stats on players will be useless to me now.

Thoughts?

Your style and ability may have changed but that needn't be true for your opponents.

I wouldn't throw that info away if I were you.

When you want to get an idea of your current play why not filter your hands

per date and just leave the old donknschnitzel days out  ??

Yea, I would leave the DB. Sure you are going to have quite a bit of useless data on there from the US players who are no longer there, but there are still going to be a lot of the same donks there as there were 5 months ago, playing the same exact game.

As far as your own stats, they shouldn't even really be in your reasoning. When I am doing most of my self analysis, I am filtering for the last month or two, except when I'm doing like a yearly review, but that's different. Using that date filter is going to solve that problem.

do you have HEM2? isn't it possible to import new hands into a new folder? then HEM would give stats on both folders but once you got enough new hands imported then you could scrap the old HH.

idk, just a thought if it works. this way your not playing completely blind for the next 10k hands or so.

Yea, I aint gonna erase the old info, was just gonna not import for 2 reasons.

1: to see how I am playing now (filtering is key here, which has been explained above by graf and hamm so reason 1 is no good)

and 2: because a lot of players gone, and I am a bit wondering if the donks are still donks, since all my info will be 5+ months old. But I am prolly giving too much credit here.

I will just re import my entire data base, and use filters.

Thanks for the comments!!
