Do a lot of people use software to analyse hands and recommend betting or not?

It seems like a substantial amount of successful poker playing is knowing whether the pot odds/implied odds are sound (before factoring in other intangibles like other players style and stack size etc.)

I am new to poker so not planning on trying software until I have developed more instinct around measuring pot odds by myself just playing casually on Zynga..

But when it comes to playing for real money do most players use software to recommend betting, calling, folding etc?

Is it considered cheating or a normal part of the online game?

I guess it breeds laziness so would not be a good idea for someone intending to play live games.

I can't think of a site that lets you use software to recommend actions.

PS, for example, prohibits "any tool or service that offers real-time commentary or advice on the current game state that goes beyond reporting data and statistics".

Software that recommends actions is usually prohibited. Some sites (if not most) even prohibit software that calculates odds and percentages for you. Software that keeps stats on other players is fine, usually, as that is something you could have observed and recorded on your own. It is open and obvious.

Software that tells you what to do while your playing is not allowed in any site.

Hi,

i'm actually looking for software which will help me study pushfold situations. Also in which i'll be to analyse other hands if my decisions were ev+ etc. I have a macbook so software like 'equilab' won't do it. Looking for something that supports mac. Anyone know anything?

thnx

Maybe I picked this up wrong.

I heard that players use hand analysis software.

I thought this was during live play.

Maybe it is only used after they finish playing to retrospectively analyse their game.

But I guess there is nothing to stop some-one running the software in a second window and entering the cards as they are dealt and the bets as they are placed to get live betting advice from a computer.

Many websites will check what other programs are running, to ensure you aren't running prohibited software. It is possible to work around this, but violates the TOS. You risk losing access to your account and the balance on it.

Do this work while away from the table. Then apply what you learned at the table.

Yes, we do use hand analysis software like Leak Buster but after the game, off table. Helps tell us what mistakes and major leaks we made in a session or overall .

While playing all we see are stats, from those stats info we make assumptions on how our opponents play and how to take advantage of it.

Something you may have noticed that some poker client will be directed as a malware by your pc/mac virus scanner, that is because it has a program that runs to check if you have a secondary program like bots when you play.. well, unfortunately some does go unnoticed by their program

For MTT/SNG scenarios that account for ICM, ICMIZER 2 is your choice. It runs as a native App on top of the MS Silverlight runtime. For non-ICM scenarios, SnapShove Pro is about the best thing going. I use it on iOS, but I believe it is also available on Android. SnapShove Pro offers a training mode that is simply outstanding. Well worth the few shekels.

PokerCruncher (and its Expert variation) are native OS X equivalents to Equilab and PokerStove.

Check out PokerCruncher

Unfortunately, I've never seen a free trial for it, and I'm reluctant to buy it unseen.

Also, it looks like it doesn't do everything Equilab does, and splits some functions into separate paid-for-again Apps.

I'm not talking about the iOS version. I use PokerCruncher Expert on OS X. YMMV and all that, but I like the application very much.

Cheers!

Me neither. Are you saying there's a trial for this one, or do I have to stump up to be able to compare it to Equilab?

Ah. I misunderstood. No, unfortunately, there is only the Basic ($8) and Expert ($40) variations. I think the apps are only delivered via the App Store, which means a trial license isn't going to happen.

That's definitely a plus for the free Equilab vs Power Equilab.

So, if you had equilab or flopzilla open while playing online they could know and cancel your account?

Yes. Their software will recognise if you are running prohibited software while the client is open, even if you are not at any tables. You will get a warning and potentially lose your ability to play there.

When meeting hundreds or thousands of players on line, how do you remember what you've learned about an individual's tendencies when you see them again?

There tendencies can be observed in the here and now.if you meet the same player 6 months down the line on pokers tars.they could have improved changed there playing style it might not be them playing it could be a family a friend. If your passive, agressive, solid or a donkey. That will show after 20 or so hands.i like to play A game poker.i like the maths of the game.i don't know if I explained that well I'm working behind the bar at the mo.sorry not going into more detail maybe later if still in trestle.

Right now, i still don't get why some people just wont let the issue go. If you dont like using HUD, then do not use one, but others, like myself find the HUD useful and for me it helps my game.
