Has FTP foiled PTR?

So PTR hasn't been tracking hands at FTP very well at all for over a month now. Evidently FTP has changed something(s) about how tables can be watched, and PTR can't fix it.

If this is true, I think it is a good thing for FTP to put their money where their mouth is when it comes to their own TOS. This is extremely laudable. If for no other reason than for them to prove they really mean the rules they establish for the protection of their business as well as the image of online poker in general.

Thing is helping online players break their TOS is most certainly NOT the only reason PTR is bad for online poker... but that is another thread entirely.

Below is a post I made at their own forums. I mirror it here in case it is deleted there.

I hope they can never get tracking back up and working, or that FTP keeps finding ways to foil them. And I hope Stars will also see why this is important.

Post at forum

Someone had complained that they bought a bunch of outdated hands without really knowing it. The PTR admin made sure to point out in public that his customer was stupid, albeit subtly.

locke(PTR Admin) wrote:That's why we show the dates, so the customer can decide exactly how far back they want to go, and if those hands will be useful to them. As to how valuable older hands are, that's entirely dependent on the player.

Fresh hands are great, and we highly recommend them depending on the stakes and styles you play. Our quantity of hands per day on a lot of fulltilt stakes is low lately. Everyone can see this before purchasing. If someone ignores that information and is unsatisfied, they're welcome to contact support so we can take care of them.
Very much of the PTR correspondence here and on other forums has this sort of ring to it. From the justifications of encouraging the poker playing public to break their TOS and cheat -- to this sort of rationalization that buying old hands is good enough really... at least when the service is broken. You literally change the rules of the game you play.

The last bit almost sounds like good customer service too, except what's really being said is "If you were stupid enough to buy something you didn't want..."

Personally I hope Stars catches up with FTP asap. FTP is getting my rake for SURE as long as they keep putting their actions where their rhetoric is. Stars needs to catch up.

I just hope FTP really did do this and that it wasn't just a side effect of something else, and that FTP will continue to develop countermeasures against the datamining farms.

FTP stopped PTR for about a month or so. It's a cat and mouse game tho and PTR has started tracking again.

I've been poking around in regards to this.

They haven't fixed it yet by any means, as they are still missing data but mostly in the micros as far as I can see.

But then I decided to look into some of the other sites that track cash poker (market edge, poker edge) and they have the same basic holes in their data.

This means one of two things (or both).

1. The sites all buy their data from the same tracker.
2. FTP did something that broke ALL the tracking providers.

Now I get why the sites like HUD users. This has caused a rake bonanza for online poker rooms. But HH tracking sites are not the same. They have changed the face of online poker, but it is NOT in the poker room's favor this time. Ask anyone who plays low to mid stakes HU tables.

I sure hope FTP can keep making it hard for PTR et all. And I hope poker stars does too.

yeah, I noticed that they had missed a few of my sessions a while back, but didnt think much of it. Just had another check, and there's not a single session from the whole of December, even though Ive played a few.
Sucks really, as I was using it to track my progress, lol, since my HEM is kinda buggered.
