Just a quick question for the old and wise or anyone who is wise really will do!

In HEM you could set a "display EV" line for tournament modes (SnG's/MTT's), yet in PT3 you can't.

I've had a little mess around with PT3 and found selecting your graph with "hands played" and either the option winnings in "BB" or "chips"

Now, once you do that, you can select your "Display All-EV line"

Thus, this now gives you your winnings/losses line which it may be along with the gold EV line, I just want to know if this is accurate and can be used in conjunction with your winnings/losses to access if you're actually under the EV line?

I know in cash games, they are close to accurate, but I'm sceptical, especially in PT3 because the option isn't like in HEM where it seems straight forward enough to find out your EV in tournaments.

On another note, if you have "winnings" and you're always below by quite a few either "BB" or "chips" but consistently have a graph doing up, does this mean you're basically getting it in good on a regular basis and just running under EV? Is that how it works for example? I'm not 100% sure on all this EV line stuff, never really looked in to it!

I've put both my PT3 graphs over a smallish sample but as you can see, most of the way I was under the EV line and have now just about evened it. Does this mean I was getting my money in good basically but just getting standard variance hit? Obviously towards the end, I've managed to run slightly better.

I've included the "BB won" and "chips won" graphs,

Any pointers would be greatly appreicated!

Hi,

In PokerTracker 3 the all-in EV line for tournaments is calculated on a per-hand basis so it reflects the all-in EV based on the tournament chips you won or lost - not on prize money. Prize money EV has been a highly requested feature, we always listen to our customer requests, that is why we have added net expected winnings graphs in the soon to be released PokerTracker 4.

As for your other question - yes, that's how it works. If your all-in EV line is higher than your money won, it means that you're running under EV (unlucky in all-in situations). Your analysis is correct, it looks like you have been running a bit better lately so the graphs have evened out.

Good luck – we just joined Cards Chat to answer questions like this and to help our users. Thanks in advance for making us a welcome member of the CardsChat Community, it is good to be here!
