I have read a lot of the threads in here and it seems most say to use the free trial of both HEM and PT3, then make a decision. However, I am mostly playing those large crapshoot MTT freerolls in an attempt to start my bankroll. So my question is should I wait until I get another score in one of these or does it not matter?

Buying a HUD is an investment that usually pays for itself in rather short time.

I'd get it asap.

Like graf said, buying a HUD is absolutely going to pay itself off and I suggest getting one ASAP as well.

However...if all you are playing is freerolls and you aren't willing to invest into your poker game by putting any kind of a starting roll on a site, then I would concentrate more on putting the money towards a bankroll on a site and go from there first. Knowing your opponents stats in a 7500 person freeroll where only the top 50 get anything isn't going to help you at all in the long run. Take the $55 you were going to spend on a HUD and put it into an account and grind. It shouldn't take long to double that, especially if you take a lot of the information that is available to you here at CC. Once you double that, then go and buy HEM or PT3 and go from there. My point is, if you're just going to be playing freerolls, it would be stupid to buy tracking software, but if you have the money to spend, then don't wait and just put it online so you can advance as a player, because playing freerolls and winning a nickel every other week isn't helping your game at all.

Yeah I know what you are both saying but I do not think I was very clear because I got misunderstood. I do eventually plan to buy one of these HUDs, however, I was planning to try before I buy and was wondering if it was worth it to figure out which one I liked more when I am just playing in these large freerolls. Which like absoluthamm said, it does seem somewhat arbitrary to know the stats on ppl in the long run.

So we can all agree it would not be worth blowing my free trial until I have a BR?

Hummm - you have 56 posts and only need a few more before you can apply for the freeroll club.

If you're in there and playing CC freerolls you'll have opponents who deserve being tracked - just saying.:p

yea, if all you are doing is freerolls, I would defo wait. If you KNOW you are getting one and you KNOW which, then it doesent matter, but a HUD will just be a novelty if all you are is a freeroll player. So the trial will be wasted.

IMO a HUD is also only going to help you if you have an idea what to do with the stats, as well as have a good grip on your current game, a HUD will not turn a losing player into a winning one.

I look at it like any tool of any trade. Take a cook as an example. If you have no idea how to use the spices, all the best pots and pans, and the newest stove tops in the world will not save your bland sauces.

I thought a while before getting one, and to be honest, I had it a while before it was any kind of help, since I did not really know how to incorporate the info I got into my decision process.

Now, I cant imagine NOT having it, which is also a double edged sword. But as long as the sites allow them, I will use them. I also multitable and cannot imagine how to do that w/o it as well.

Many good players (mainly tourney players however) claim to not need one, so playing a good game is simply step one before anything else.

On the long term it's worth the investment. The info you get out of your opponents with this is priceles...

Dedicate the next cash to buy one of these, even more there are some bonus when you get them in some sites with extra cash or unlock a bonus.

Yeah you simly can't avoid buyin one of them. The info they give is very important especially if you play at many tables at a time. :)

Ok thanks everyone, I will definitely wait until at least freerolll club tournaments. Maybe I will use the shorter trial on those a couple times, hopefully get my roll started and then go from there. Can't wait!!
