Thanks for dropping by.

So here's the thing, I recently intalled PT4 and am trying to configure it (with some degree of difficulty) and am looking for helpful suggestions as I walk down this rabbit hole:

  1. I would like to know if I can run the Jivaro HUD while playing and still have histories imported to the PT4 database?
  2. Do I need to change the path for the saved Hand/Tournament histories setting in PokerStars (or any other sites)?
  3. Can I import the data from already saved hands and tournaments and make graphs and reports from those files to "learn" how PT4 works?
  4. Do you have any thoughts on the pitfalls I may encounter configuring the software and suggestion as how to solve or avoid them.
Any and all input greatly appreciagted.

1. I dunno, I do not use it
2. No, you don't need, you configure PT where you have saved them
3. Yes, of course
4. Backup your PT database from time to time

Q: I would like to know if I can run the Jivaro HUD while playing and still have histories imported to the PT4 database?
A:
I didn't ever used Jivaro HUD, but don't see there can be any problem with that. As long you have path to your hand histories in PT4 and when you click on the button "Get hands while playing" it will automatically grab all the hands and tournament results and add it into database. So i think yes, you still can use alternative HUD and having all database in PT4 too.

Q: Do I need to change the path for the saved Hand/Tournament histories setting in PokerStars (or any other sites)?
A: you don't have to change path in any of your poker rooms. Instead you have to make sure, that you are having a proper path at settings of each poker room in PT4. (Click on "Play Poker", select a poker room/poker network you need and by double click on it, add hand history path.) You may try a simple test by clicking "Get hands while playing" and click on "Importing status" tab to check if you guessed a path right. If there are failures, try another folder. Sometimes it can get tricky. I had such problems with iPoker Network rooms myself.

Q: Can I import the data from already saved hands and tournaments and make graphs and reports from those files to "learn" how PT4 works?
A: Sure thing! If you have the hands already in hand history folder at the room you been playing, just set those room up, as said above. If you have hand history somewhere else, let say in some BackUp/Hand History folder on your hard drive or usb stick, then click on "Play Poker - Get Hands from Disk" and choose a proper folder. Let it import and that's it!

Q: Do you have any thoughts on the pitfalls I may encounter configuring the software and suggestion as how to solve or avoid them.
A: Honestly PT4 does it's work pretty well, but there are some things you maybe have to struggle with sometimes indeed. First of all, make sure, that at every poker room you play, English is the language. PT4 doesn't understand any other language hand history and wouldn't work otherwise. Second thing - when your database become bigger, don't forget to Vacuum and Index and other stuff, one by one. Don't have to make daily, but maybe every 3-4 weeks, if you play regularly is not a bad idea. It gives a good boost to the software indeed. (To be found at Menue "Database - Database Management") I hope it won't happen to you, but at my PC sometimes PT4 is hanging, when i start it. Luckily not that often, but it does and then nothing works anymore obviously. So if it will happen to you, just close the software and start it again. (I need sometimes "Windows Task Manager" for that as it's not going away completely, when i close it.And yeah, to make statistic more fair we do really need to check all the information and sometimes edit tournament results manually, as PT4 can't recognize any tickets we used or tournaments been played for bonus points instead of cash been paid. You have to keep eye on such things by your own, if you don't want to be found in a situation, when at the end of the month PT4 says, you made a huge minus, although you actually break even or even made a plus... There are a lot of case like that. I do check personally all the games in PT4 after every session, short before i do analyze my tagged hands. That let me keep my stats in order.

And at the end i can recommend you to check this page (https://www.pokertracker.com/custom), at least to download some pre-made HUDs to try out. As they are much better, than those you get with software as default. And it saves a lot of time to edit them, adding stats you need or delete you never use, as creating it from scratch. Especially if you are new to this software.
Have fun and master your limits with PT4, mate! If you have any other questions, i will be glad to answer, no matter if here or at PM. ;)

If you use PT4 i can give you a hand to get the most out of it, im a premium addon developer for PT4 and one of the most active members of the PT4 forums and im fully capable of making pretty much all the custom stats you can think off as well as design and build any HUD/Popup you have in mind.
Also, if you´re running a stable with my PT4 premium addon account i can upload and asign stats and HUD Profiles and protect them to avoid any unauthorize downloads and distributions, hit me up with a PM with ur skype address so we can have a little chat, cheers.

If you end up getting frustrated, you can try Drivehud as well. It's plug and play ready and designed from the ground up to be an easy (much easier) to use experience than most HUD's out there.
