Ive been looking for a good cheap way to practice HU on the go and I found two good ways, but I don't want two Apps for the same thing so my question is what way do you think would be more beneficial for quick, cheap practice? The two apps I found are:

The new pokerstars play money App for US players:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.pyrsoftware.pokerstars.net&hl=en

And this is the NeoBot an award winning poker AI read about it here:
http://www.neopokerbot.com/

I figure the bot would "take it more seriously" than someone playing $200/$500 play money, on the other hand they the bot plays fairly but playing against another human seems like it would be more of a realistic practice. What do u guys think? I'm also reading and watching videos, this won't be my only practice

cant practice heads up without playing real players for real money.

read a few books watch a few videos and hit the tables, start at a way lower limit and work up to where you feel comfortable. Better in the long run than play money apps and bots

bots are not a good way to practice hu i agree the only way to practice is real ppl and real money, just start with low stakes and experience will give you the best practice

Of course real players with real money is the best practice, in my post I asked the best ALTERNATIVE for ON THE GO or when I have limited play time I also have a wife and two toddlers that need my time (and money).
I've also not seen much different play between micro stakes and play money sometimes so I'd rather get to play a bunch of hands against slightly worse players for free than risk any money for the same thing (IMO)
The Neobot has won awards for its level of thinking/play and is most likely better than a lot of the fish in the micro stakes (I would think)
I also posted that I am also reading and watching videos and that this is NOT the only thing I'm doing for practice

Please re read my OP ^^^^^^^^

-FOR ON THE GO OR WHEN I DO NOT HAVE ALOT OF TIME TO PLAY
-I AM ALSO WATCHING VIDEO AND READING THIS IS NOT MY ONLY PRACTICE

FYI I am not looking for the BEST way to practice HU I just need a way to fill in those down time spots with a quick HU session

Obviously playing in the National HU Championship would be THE BEST practice but that's not the question I'm asking :icon_salu

Play one for a while, replace the app, then play the other for a while, back and forth back and forth.

dj's fairly unique take on play money gaming;

You can learn everything you need to know via play money poker EXCEPT how to deal with the scared money aspect of poker. This is a very real concern that you can not even know exists without your own real money involved. You also have to understand that those you play against have no stake in the game either. So concentrate on the methods involved when using play money gaming, rather than any results at all.

I see better play at higher play money levels than I do at micro level real money games. So if you were to ask me how (please don't, I get plenty of shit from my notions about play money already) I would suggest you figure out how to win a million play money chips (will give you some confidence that you are not a total noob), then go straight to 50NL avoiding the BS you find at micro level real money games, which (IMHO) will screw up your game worse than what others think play money gaming does.

Thank you for your post that makes a lot of sense. I too have seen better play at high play money than micro real money and why I'm just looking for some cheap practice is I'm a MTT player so the only time I am heads up is at the end where i have 2nd place money locked up with deep stacks so the losing your own money fear is not there for me

I like how on PS u have more options (more or less buy ins) compared to the bot where its 1000 chips each and that's it . I think I'll just go back and forth until if find one that's helping me more

I get this a lot, with zero respect.... actually I get quite a bit of serious dis respect regarding my stance. I roll with it quite easily....always have.

While I might be the most vocal of the long time members around here regarding the worth of play money poker, I stand firmly where I do for better reasons than anyone has present on the 'rush to cash' side of the argument. There are several, if not many long time members who occasionally agree. ;)

Thank you for your post that makes a lot of sense.
say it isn't so

Actually the majority of the pots you will play (especially ones that will see a flop) in an MTT will be heads-up vs. one other player.

Seriously if you only have short periods of time to play, you'd be a million times better off playing micro stakes HU Sng over any play money game.
