I'm starting to question if i really need a hud or not. My non hud reads seem to be exactly the same or better than my reads when i use the hud. What do you guys think, is hud really that important.

If you don't think you need a HUD, then don't get one. But they definitely don't hurt.

I don't use one, but a lot of CC'ers do, I think.

no i don't think a hud is all the important if you can pay attention to the table. however if you multitable its often hard to keep track of how each player has been playing and a hud can be very useful and important in those spots. i find hud stats even help me keep better track of how a player has been playing. i'll often remember the player by his stats more so than by there actual screen name.

if you mutitable, its good to have, because alot can go on at once, but if you play single tables with a hud, then quit poker, and send me all your chips, because if you really need a hud for single table action, you dont belong at the table at all, (imo)

It's really good for multitabling but not as important for only 1 table.

Right now I usually triple table and can keep up with the action pretty decently. I find that right now I might be doing better double tabling without a hud. Guess only time will tell.

I guess multi-tablers use one because they can't pay attention to each individual game table enough to make sound decisions otherwise. I don't understand why they do it but I never play more than three tables at once myself. I have found the stats on players are a nice reference to have available, though. Problem is, your stats are only as good as the HHs that you have in your database.

I played without and wasn't too bad - but since I'm multitabling cash, STTs, MTTs I'd really have a hard time keeping track of everything

- you can keep notes until some point but when you're 4 tabling on 3 sites and looking at 4 HHs at the same time you can't play optimally imo.

i guess a hud is player preference ,but holdem manager , pt3 whichever you use has a ton of information on your game and is a great tool just to identify and keep track of info on yourself, to analyze your own tenancies. weather you use the Hud or not is player preference but the tracking software is a great tool for self analysis

Honestly a HUD should be used as a way to analyze your gameplay. You shouldnt have to rely upon it in order to be a successful player. I have Pokertracker 3 and when I first got it over a year ago I relied upon it too much and I think it hurt my growth as a player. Now I just use it as a reference and to go over my sessions as a "review" tool rather than using it to make my decisions during realtime gameplay.
