Would you enter a one or two table tourney where some players start with a fixed amount of chips but others (who earned bonus starting chips by doing well in prior tourneys) would get an extra 10% - 70% in chips? Is that too big of an advantage if you were getting no extra chips?

I have seen these type on tournaments and frankly avoided them for the most part. Is it to big of a disadvantage really would depend on the structure. If you are starting out with a decent size stack "100+" BB and a decent slower structure the disadvantage wont be so bad. If the structure is aggressive and faster it would be a mistake to play it. Unless you really just want to play poker I would avoid the tournament.

Depends on How much the buy in is. I mean yes having more chips is also an advantage , But if its the start of the tourney Im not completely worried. They do it at the casino here that if you've played 4 hours or more of cash you get an extra 20% usually. I've been fine with it

If its a freeroll possibly, but if its a paid buy-in and players are starting at different chip counts then I wouldn't risk the buy-in, that's just unreasonably risky and not worth the investment.

If I got in at the start Yes I would. I would say I am good enough to overcome that disadvantage. Heck at the mid stage of a tourney I am generally middle of the pack anyways.

If I was given the same chance to earn the bonus of course. plus I like a good challenge but it would be a disadvantage obviously. look at late register tournys it almost that way. if it states before the tourney starts that is the rules then I would play in that tourney

Agree with this 100%. If everyone had the same opportunity for the bonus, and some people used it but I didn't- then that's my fault and I will gladly play the tourney starting with the disadvantage. At a casino close to me they have a tourney where if you pay extra $10 for the dealers to split then you get extra chips (20% of chip stack iirc). I always took it, but I assume some people didn't.

It is really a big advantage to have 10%-70% extra chips. It is like one player has 100000 and the other has 170000 chips. The more chips the more comfortable game you can play! I would enter if that difference was till 20%-30%!

Last time I was in Vegas they had these guaranteed freerolls in a couple of poker rooms and your starting chip stack varied due to the number of hours played in the poker room. I'm going to pay attention to the poker rooms doing them my next trip, because a guaranteed turbo freeroll with a push stack from the beginning is more fun than slots for sure. :D

OK, that makes sense. It's alright if it's free to get in but if I'm putting money on the table then no way Jose.
