Why do $2k HU SNG regs play $1.50 tables?

I was randomly observing a $2k HU NL game on Stars and decided to just look them up on Macropoker. This guy played a ton of $1.50 games in between playing $1k and $2k games. Just wondering what the logic is, because Im currently trying to build a bankroll on the $1.50 games via Fixed Limit. Would it be safe to say that the $3.50 games are easier than the $1.50 because there isn't $2k regs coming to play it from time to time?

This is why you should stick to $5k or higher ;)

Maybe it's because they are testing out a new strategy?

Of course thinking higher buy-ins essentially are easier; is incorrect. If this is your logic, then go sit as high as you can afford

lol, Er, you? :)

In reference to your posts though. No, it's NOT easier to assume $3.50's are easier than a lower limit, that was be daft, as each stake goes up, you gradually get better players who have played the previous limits before moving on up. You can assume though that one jump up in stakes, in this case $1.50>$3.50 could be very similar in skill level, but overall; the $1.50's are always going to be easier than the $3.50's.

yeah he will be practicing some new strategies, but still i think he should not do it playing huge limits beside, but obviously he is good enough to handle everything...did he win most of the tables??

Stay at 1.50 and when you see them sit go for thoughs games. If you can start beating them then sit at some 2k tables and get rich. :)

Also I bet there isn't none stop action at the 2k tables so what do you do when board? Play the low stakes and have some fun.

Slightly off the specific but still on the topic I played a 5050 @ 1.5 about a month ago that had a supernova in it. I was surprised but maybe they just do it for the fun sometimes or have a rule that if drunk they play the lowest stakes lol. Also its fun to have a chance to play those skilled players at ur own buyin on ocassion imo but would hate to run into them constantly.

idk... how would new strategies at $1 game have any relevance to games played with $1k+ buyin?

My guess would be > setting up new software (ie. stackandtile) or maybe f'n with their HUD or something? Or some other settings/layout type thing.

Maybe making a training vid.? (although I doubt many $2k buyin regs. make vids. for micros).

OR.. maybe it was some 8yr. $2k buyin reg.,... letting his Parents play on his account?

They are testing something in most cases. I know one mid-high stakes reg and we had a talk recently about this thing. He said he had to play like fifty 1,5$ HUs until he finally managed to set some feature in HUD.
Another reason would be that they are bored waiting for opponents at high stakes, so they are just flippin' 1,5$ in the meantime. It's fun, when you don't have to care about winning at all.

Maybe they don't have a lot of time to sit and play, or are just waiting for another game. I will often play at a much lower stake while waiting out an hour before a tourney. Software can take some time and a number of hands to get set up properly, better to do it with lower potential for losses?
