Hey guys, I have a question regarding when to move up in stakes. I am currently playing the 1.10 45-man turbos on Stars. I am beating them for about 16% ROI over a couple hundred game sample. I have about $130 in my account and enough money in the bank to comfortably deposit a couple hundred more. I would like to step up to the 3.25 45-man Turbos but i know my $130 bankroll cannot support the variance that they have. Here is my question: Should I just keep grinding out these 1.10's or deposit more and step up to the 3.25's? The main reason i want to do this is that i feel my skill level can easily handle the 3.25's, I just get kind of burnt-out at the 1.10's because the play is so bad. Also if anyone knows the approx. amount of buy-ins i should have for the 45-man turbos please let me know, i was thinking somewhere from 70-90 Let me know your thoughts on this and any other comments you have that you think could benefit me.
Thanks!:)

You're not ready to move up. You don't even understand what makes the games you're playing profitable yet.

WVHillbilly may be right about not being ready to move up. The other part doesn't matter. If you're winning (at anything) poker or other it doesn't matter if you know why. The result is what counts to start with. It sounds like you are willing to learn and track your stats so learning/understanding will com. If you have 100 buy-ins go ahead and take a shot. Be ready and willing to move down if you struggle. 200 game sample is small. My goal is always a minimum of 1000 before moving up a level. The goal isn't to move up, it's to make money. Moving up strokes the ego. If you move up and after 1000 games you've made the same as you had at the lower level, it's not worth the risk.

WVHillbilly, please elaborate?

Basically, if you think you will profit at a higher level because the play is better at higher levels... Then you are not ready to move up.

I disagree, I think the play is similar at the $3 and $5 levels while the rake is quite better. It's been discussed many times before that the rake in thse $1 games make it almost impossible to beat regardless of how good you are over the long run. If I were you I would try my luck at the higher stakes

I don't think he said he wanted to move up because playing at a higher skill level would be more profitable. He just said he was "burned out" playing against the donkeys in the $1's. I know what you're getting at though, if you're saying to yourself "Come on! That guys calls my shove with 83s and sucks out on me! I need to move up!" then that's bad...
