I've been reading up on small ball strategy and it seems like a good way to be profitable if you can do it well, the only problem is when should it be applied? I play the 90 man SnG on stars and you start with 75bb, is this enough? I would think you need a deepstack for small ball because you have to play so many hands. When should small ball be applied? more than 100bb or could it be applied at even 30bb?

In the 90 man SnG, you can play small ball but not for long as the blinds will rise quickly and it is hard to control the pot size as well. This strategy works better in large tournaments with huge stacks and slower blinds change. 100bb is big enough but you still want to play in position and not call big bets pre flop too often as if you use this strategy a lot and play small pocket pairs, suited connectors a lot you will lose more than you will win.
30bb is too small to play small ball, you should stick to TAG and as much as you can.

You can play small ball with any stack. Point is that you put minimum money in bank each hand if you haven't very monster hand. If should be applied when you got at unfamiliar table or higher level than usually.
