To give yourself a Holdem Manager, this will help you to recognize the types of players, it will be a little easier to make important decisions. Read more, see the video, the most important is practice.

A tight aggressive approach is probably the best at the beginning while learning how to play poker. But you also should definitely reserve some of your time to study about poker. You should know about the mathematical aspect in poker, but also about the psychological. Therefore I recommend you to read several strategy articles. Cardschat also offers a lot of them. Watching videos about poker strategy probably also will help you a lot.
You need to know, what type of players are existing. You need to know about your position at the table. You will need to learn about bet sizing. There are so many topics, about that you can learn and that will improve your game. A HUD is really a good thing to have while playing poker, but maybe you need to learn at first the basic concepts untill you are able to use and read the HUD.

Patience and self control! Make sure you think your decisions through, recognize where you need improvement and pay attention on how to adjust you play during the various phases of a tournament. Use pokerschool on pokerstars and study study study the tournament lessons.

You have to be patient, do not see the flop with trash cards, because when you have a good hand like AA or KK, you have more chance to earns more chips. You have to read the players at the table, if ther are aggressive or rock, if they are rock palyers you can streal their blinds, and if thery are aggressive you should expect storng hands to play against them.

Be ready to have long stretches where you don't cash. You will be playing freerolls so this is no biggie to you.

Play tight early on and you will build a nice stack or bust early with your good hands against players shoving trash.

The key is to know it is a grind and one tournament a day it will take that much longer for results to show up.

Losing needs to be dealt with the reminder that and upswing is only 1-2 hands away. Don't burn your tournaments

For freerolls - have fun and experiment. Use these as opportunities to try out new strategies you learn, test your own willingness to play different styles, etc.

If you manage to win some $$ off freerolls, or you deposit for the first time learn what bankroll Management (BRM) is and do it IMMEDIATELY. For any poker, but especially MTT poker, BRM is absolutely essential unless you want to go broke fast.

playing tight early gives one a chance to pick off bluffers, get a feel for other players, and finally be in a decent position to make a run as the blinds climb.

Play tight and aggressive. Be aware of position. Be disciplined and patient when making decisions. If you're trying to build a bankroll play as many tourneys as you can. Only expect to cash 10% of the time or less, and make the top 3 places 1% of the time. This is typical, especially in large field freerolls.

Don't be afraid to get all-in if you think you have the best hand - waiting too long and folding away your stack is no way to live. :p

Good luck to you!

The main factor is the ability to play well and the patience to wait for good cards, and at the right time to play aggressively when you can do it, play less on bad cards, and you will win!

In my opinion the best tip for tournament play is to learn to play short stacks. This is the most important part of tournaments where the stacks will be shallow and You need to know when to shove and call a shove :)

I think the best strategy is simply to pay attention to other players and try to survive as much as you can. This means not shoving all in with AA/KK pre-flop and adjusting your range of cards depending on your position/stack/blinds.With a little luck you can make it to the money easily.

mmmm my advice would be: at the beginning play closed and when the blinds are very big ...opened your game.

It might sound silly but don't browse the internet while playing. Maybe it's just me but I find that i'm undisciplined if I'm just browsing the web and the tourney is just popping up.
