I know you probably don't keep stats like this, but I just joined an MTT on Bovada and folded the first 12 hands before finally getting something decent to play (and that was just an A-5 suited in an early position).

I'm sure there's been times where it's been 50+ hands.
Folding 12hands in succession in early levels is nothing & certainly wouldn't make an A5s in EP look any better.

I've gone extremely carddead for long periods of time before. I know for a fact I've folded more than 3 or 4 orbits before, many times. Usually in the tourneys I play your stack cannot take folding 4 orbits in a row and you have to just pick something reasonable and play it strong and fast. So, if I'm truly card dead and on a short-ish stack that could mean open jamming my Hi-Jack with a hand like J8o :(

3 to 4 orbits without a hand an online Reg will experience fairly seldomly especially when multi tabling in large fields.

To be honest, I've played live tournaments when I've gone without a premium 6 hours., I remember I had A7 and pocket 6's my best hands absoloutely dyer,
Made final table somehow

oh...the card dead phases...they happen..are frustrating but you gotta deal with them..the most hands in a row I recall folding is around 40 before I actually got something playable..and its usually late stage..which sucks!

Not something I'd know of the top of my head but if I had to guess I'd say it's way more than your 12. Probably wouldn't surprise me if I've folded like 30+ in one table. When playing multiple tables, especially in early stages of tournaments you should be folding most of your hands anyway so it's nothing of concern. If playing one table I guess you can take those slightly +ev calls than you would otherwise fold if multi tabling.

For example, if playing multiple tables and I've looked at my stats they vary massively on each table I'm playing. I've ran really, really nitty in some tournaments early stages like 8/10 and in others if you get the right spots to call/raise/limp behind etc and I can run 45/40 for example it just depends on the players at the table and the spots you can get. The more aggro your table is early stages the tighter your range should be, where as if you have a really tight table you should be playing more loosely etc. Just do the opposite of what the table average is doing and you should be fine.

Just to note though, opening A5s EP due to frustration of folding so many hands isn't going to be good in general. There's no incentive to try stealing when there are no antes in play, sure A5s plays ok post flop but I'd probably still fold this hand and probably open a suited connector as opposed to raggy aces in EP. Chances are if called you're likely going to be dominated and have to play OOP with a hand that's not even going to be fun to play if you flop top pair and get some action.

Folding the first 30+ is nothing special really, although I hope it doesn't happen that often :)

There have been times where i have registered for a tournament a few days before and forgot about it. Therefore my hands were folded for the entirety of the tournament because i was sitting out. On a serious note i don't remember folding for two orbits anytime. Which turns out to be 18 hands or fewer. Two orbits is a lot. How can one go by folding for 50 plus hands, such knits !!
