I was wondering what everyone strategy is when you are the big stack in a tournament.

I play tight when I have the big stack. I usually play like I normally do throughout the rest of the tournament. I play my hands.

I see a lot of Big stack players that play any 2 cards. I know if I did that I'd steal some small pots but end up doubling someone else up and the little I won would be moot.

I pretty much play the same but will attack the very small stacks with anything half ass. I do however think it is a mistake to call an all in from a shortstack with any two cards just cause you have a chance at knocking them out.

I have seen many a large stack get dwindled down to nothing by Pros and fish alike by constantly trying to knock out the small stacks.

The hardest thing for me when im big stack is to control the amount of flops i see. i always used to end up playing way to many hands and slowly get driven down, then in a desperate attempt to make it back i lose lol

now i dont play as many hands and dont just call for the hell of it and it seems to be working out much better

I actually tighten up when I get the big stack. Otherwise it seems to go fast. You tend to call the shortstacks all in because you "have to" when you have 2 high cards, and it doesn't take long to lose a couple and see a portion of your stack gone and feel the need to gain it back. A lot of aggressive players will play back at the big stack because they figure you're trying to use your stack to push others around. Although I admit it takes fortitude to play back at the big stack.
