I find playing live tournaments some nights its hard to make things happen
if you want to see pots your going four or five ways on average post flop sometimes more.
granted conventional strategy is to just go to value town with your big hands and wait it out or you can play the
donk race and just get it in cheap with your specs and pocket pairs hoping to double up at some point, once ive got that double up it tends to be game over for the middle part in cruise control dictating the table.

Sometimes though it can be a struggle to get a rythem going.
So in my own mind its kind of just a case of waiting until my double up
comes then start accumalating after 25/50 so 50/100.

But what sometimes frustrates me is players building big stacks
playing with all kinds of hands, im not a big fan of investing multiways into a pot
I prefer to isolate and either take it down, cut my losses or bet the best hand at showdown.

Does anyone have what they feel is a good strategy to starting a live tournament?

Cheers :)

Best way to play the beginning of a tournament is play tight until the antes kick in. Just keep playing your broadway cards and pocket pairs and be patient preserving your stack. When the antes kick in you can then start opening your range a bit and play more aggressive.

Agree with that

Observation is the most powerful weapon you have live early. Find out who you are up against and how they are likely to play.
