There are several things I would have done differently here Ė not that you did wrong, letís just call it personal preference.
First, I donít mind the open here; A 10 can be a powerful LP hand. If it were me, I would have opened much smaller though, say 2100 to 2500 (Iím assuming the ante is 100 by the way). If he flats from the button you can bet your flopped Ace OOP comfortably for 2500-3000, this would earn you the same information you received in this example at a much cheaper price.
As far as this hand is concerned, you did fold right? He certainly had you beat! Itís impossible for me to speculate on his holdings since I wasnít there and donít know this player, but he nearly certainly had you beat; the only hand he holds that doesnít beat yours is total air!
The whole dynamic of this hand changes with you opening lower; thatís the bottom line. The same thing would have happened or you would have received much more information much sooner and could have got away from your hand after losing the minimum Ė as it stands here, you had over 30% of your chips in the middle when you realized you were going to have to fold!
