I was playing in my pub poker league tournament yesterday when i was faced with a difficult decision. The blinds were 50-100 i had 1300 chips left and i was in the small blind. utg and early folds middle position calls hj folds button calls i look at my cards and see i have j-9 in sb i call and bb checks. The flop comes k-10-4 with two clubs on the board i check bb checks middle position bets out 100 button calls i decide too call and the bb calls on the river the q hits the board giving me a straight but the third club hits the board. I check bb cecks and middle position goes all in for his last 950 chips the button taes along time but decides too fold now it is up too me. My pos is not good because i have the bb yet too act after taking about two too three minutes too decide i folded and the bb folded the player sow he made a floped two pair the river hunt the rive and it was a blank i would have won the pot. My question is given the information how could i have played this hand differently.

Fold preflop.

You're short stack with 13bbs, in this situation you would easily get commited with the pot if you hit a J (and bad kicker) or strong draw. And to make matters worse, you would be out of position on a multiway flop.
If I were you, I would preserve those chips and wait for some better situation to shove in the preflop and put pressure on the players that could be 'damaged' by your stack.

since youre in SB, limping is fine, i think call on flop is fine, but fold is better since you only have 1300chips. turn u hit gin. i think would call the all-in. Why would someone with a possible flush(person who went all-in) go allin with a made hand?? i smell set or two pair, you do have to worry about the BB, but i think i call since u only have 12bbs left

Questionable logic

Pub poker is always going to have questionable logic by a lot more players than one might see in a casino so it is hard to pinpoint what might be happening unless you know the person well. I would say with such a small stack at 13 bbs save your 50 extra chips for when you get the button or further along when you are not in the blinds. You can probably get into a better position limping along than j9 off.

You don't have to feel obligated to call every small blind. J 9 is not that good and the straight you ended up hitting was not the nut straight. With the 3 people acting in front of you after the flop was a bad situation. I would go with the straight though given your situation of how short stacked you were. I wouldn't have liked it buy I would have called.

I understand the fold but did you really believe he hit the flush? You got the right amount of equity to make this call if you pieced it together

Well, based on your stack situation to start the hand (that you had 13bbs) you should've folded pre flop. But once you see the flop, I would have a very hard time letting that hand go on the turn. I can see getting away from it again on the flop. With all those other players involved that saw the flop, to me you have 2 decisions on the flop. Either fold, or reraise all in to put the pressure on your opponents to make the call. You played the hand initially to take a chance in hopes that youd hit huge, a straight being one of those. So hitting your hand then folding makes little sense at that point in the hand, imo. You should've gone all in on the turn. IF youre good then, great, if not, oh well. On to the next one.

This is correct. Do not fold preflop with J9 in the small blind there considering the price you are getting. On the flop I would elect to just toss my hand away and not chase at a gutter draw. It worked in this instance, but most of the time your just going to burn 100 of your chips and have to fold on the turn. The way it went, on the turn I would call as well. If your opponent has a flush, he has a flush. Could also have a pair and a straight/flush draw or could have two pair like he did in this case.
