What is the right strategy?

Recently I played a 20+2 satellite tournament, with an aggressive blind structure. 15k chips at start, blinds increased every 8 minutes. Game was supposed to end after level 18 (5000/10000). We were down to 7 players. I was left with 28k (6/7) M=3. Gameplay was very tight already for some rounds. Shortstacks not going anywhere and big stacks raising and collecting the blinds all the time. I faced 8/6 suited in the bb (5000k) with a raise to 2 bb from the button. Question:

Would you have gone all in or waited for a "descent" hand to shove knowing that impact with just few bb would have been very low? Keen on getting our thoughts.

More information would be helpful, since you say it is a satellite, do a certain number of players win an entry into another event?

In satellites you don't have to collect all the chips you just have to outlast the right number of players.

As described I'd fold since I'd rather have high card strength if calling it off for less than 6bbs.

Since you say it has been a very tight table I'd probably wait for an unopened pot and shove - any two cards if necessary, just take the 'first-in vigorish' as Harrington would say, and give yourself a chance to get a fold.

If you think the raiser is super-wide you could consider stop-n-going, flat and shove any flop but this is very high variance with so few chips behind.

As I mentioned. Game ended after level 18. All remaining players made it to the next tournament. Considering the high blinds and even higher to come I was thinking "the time has come", especially as i folded 30k chips pre flop due to not getting any highcards or connecters. But thinking about your reply, I agree. I should have waited for a decent hand a bit longer.
