I took the day off today and found time to play the $5 + .50 $500 guarantee on Bovada (finished 31st & didn't cash). I might have cashed if not for a rather egregious error on my final hand (shoving with AQ against an early raiser that had me covered and had AA). But that isn't the point of the thread...
I saw 116 hands in the tournament in a little over 2 hours. I won 6 hands preflop with a raise. I also folded 3 times preflop to a re-raise or 3 bet (not including folds from either blind). I made it to the flop on 23 additional hands. So first question - is that too tight? Actually seeing the flop 19.8% of the time; attempting to get to the flop 27.5% of time?
On the 23 flops, I connected with top pair 8 times. Oddly enough, I never connected with 2nd or 3rd pair - just top pair. I never had a flush draw or open-ended straight draw. A recall one gut shot draw, as well. Of those 8 top pair connections, I won just 5 - getting out-kicked on one; folding to a shove when my top pair was 8s on another; and the final hand when my AQ paired the Q but ran into pocket Aces. So my 2nd question is, should I feel lucky connecting like I did - or is that pretty slim pickings?
Of the 15 un-connected flops, I didn't keep track, but I know I won probably 6 or so with continuation bets, and lost the rest.
