Ex. "$2000 GP Freezeout"

$2000 Gtd - Means the pool will be $2000 unless the total buy-ins/rebuys/add ons are greater than that.

$2000 Added - Means $2000 added on top of any buy-ins/rebuys/add ons.

$2000 GP - What the heck does this mean??

GP = Guaranteed Prizepool so the same as GTD. Seems to be used more at non-US sites.

Yeah, this is a good thread. A lot of beginner players won't notice a difference between $2000 GTD and $2000 added. The subtle difference in the wording will ultimately make a HUGE difference in the prize pool...

That's what I guessed it meant, but the poker room I was looking on has tourneys with "GTD" and "GP" so I figured there had to be a difference...I guess not. Confusing.

It's definitely a bit confusing...did a google search earlier today and there's not much there. What I did find agrees with CYA but I didn't want to post it in case I was wrong;)

I don't mind being wrong. ;)

Tried to see a pattern in the tourneys posted. Maybe GP means guaranteed and maximum while GTD means at least. The GP R/A confused me but maybe the rebuys that go over the GP amount go to the site and not the prizepool.

Now you're just over-thinking it. You were right!!! .... but now you're wrong, lol (rebuys over the guar. go to the site??? Come on Frosty... think about that one for a sec. lol ;) )
GP (as you said) is Guaranteed Prizepool. So is Gtd. There is no difference (this is on iPoker for you US folks puzzled by the look of the lobby). It's not the only puzzling thing about iPoker lobbys.
When they did their huge 'upgrade' a few mos. ago, all it consisted of was 'new look to the lobby', meanwhile it resulted in a huge clusterfck where many players would get 'shutdown' while playing (not disconnected) & took nearly 2 full months for iPoker (playtech) to acknowledge it & then another month to get it fixed.

These are the players we want on our tables, LOL. Do they really not notice the difference though? "Oh it meant guaranteed! I thought they were tossing in another $2,000 on top of the prizepool (cuz it happens so frequently)." I think I give them too much credit alot of the time (& actually assume they're thinking... probably my biggest leak (aside from occassionally bein' a dick)).

Sorry for the derail (& for bein' a bit of a dick).
gl on Titan Weissr! Do you want some suggestions for micro/low buyin MTT's to play on there? If so, let me know.

No worries about the derail man, your posts are usually pretty solid.

I keep lists of tourneys on a number of different sites. Just took a look at my iPoker list & thing is, they don't always run at the same time each day (some of them do, but they change it up a bit). ie. on weekdays at 14:30(est) there's a $11 $5,000GP (sometimes it's $6,000GP), but on the weekend it runs at 13:30.
There's another $10 freezeout each day at 17:00(est), $2,000GP.

There's a $5 freezeout each day at 15:00, $4,000GP (sometimes it's $3,500).
There's a $5r/a $10,000guar. each day at 16:00(est). (~1hr. earlier there's a $10r/a $18k-$20k guar.).
There's also a couple of $1 buyins each day... the freezeout used to have 3,000chip stacks to start (but just checked the lobby & they've recently changed it to 1,500 ... sigh). It runs each day at ~15:00(est).. maybe 14:00? An hour later there's a $1r/a $1,500guar. (these two tourneys are called DailyDollar & DailyDollarRebuy).

What time of day are you looking at playing? (earlier in the day there's a few more... ie. $3r/a $4,000guar. at 11:30est). There's also a bunch of $5 freezeouts, with guar's ranging from ~ $1,250 to $4,000. They run approx. each hour (sometimes everyother hour). Players are real bad in those $5 freezeouts but you don't get alot of chips to start out with (1,500). The $10's typically start you out with 2,000chips (but the one at 2:30pm sometimes starts you with 3,000chips).

For low buyin, they've got two deepstacked tourneys at 5:45pm & 7pm ($25 & $30 buyins), where you get 6,000chip starting stacks! There's approx. 100 entrants in these each day (sometimes 120).

Later in the day (after 7pm est) the site really slows down.
Also, during busy hours you can get into some 30man Sng's too (later in the day these don't even fill up... but earlier on you can probably get in 4 or 5 at a time). Structure is pretty fast compared to say FTP or STARS 27 man reg. speed SNG.. but players are shittier too. They've got $5's & $10's (I think there might be $2's as well, but I believe the structure is even faster in those ones for some reason)

I do tend to over-think things. Thanks for the clarification. (I always expect things to make sense :D)

Thanks for the list, a lot of those are out of my price range at the moment tho. I'm can pretty much only afford $1,$2 buyins (deposited $10, won $30 so far) and they do have a few freezeouts (which I prefer over the rebuy frenzy's) in that range during the day. Maybe one day I can step my buyins up. I also go hard on freerolls (where the majority of my winnings are from) but the only decent FR's on Titan seem to be the depositor ones. Ideally I'm trying to find 'money added' tourneys as the GTD's are usually pretty meaningless anyways (guarantee always reached/exceeded). I've seen some decent money added micro freezouts in the lobby but they are restricted (to affiliate accounts I think). Boo.

You should sign up to Paddy Power Poker. (if you're not Canadian) There's lots of $ added games on there and some decent freerolls too.

Monday and Tuesday there's 2 $50 freerolls that start at 9pm GMT and if you play all 4 you get into the $300 weekly final on Friday at 9pm GMT.

There's also a $1 and $2 tourney each day with $100 or $200 added. Play 2 of those in a week and you get into a $1k freeroll on Friday.

All of those games are packed with fishy idiots too.

Times listed in EST
14:00 $1 DailyDollar $1,000guar.

15:00 $1rb DailyDollar Rebuy $1,500guar.

The first one here used to have 3,000chip starting stacks but I think they've changed it now (not sure)
The second one is super soft. Really great chance of building a huge stack during rebuy period without needing to rebuy (in other words... you could actually sit & wait for somewhat monsters & still get paid off regardless of an uber-tight image).

gl gl (maybe some stakes down the road on iPoker? ... watch the staking thread ;) )
