Hi everyone, what do you think about the $ 22 buy-in micromillions main event?

Do you like the game structure that tournament has?
200 bb of initial stack.
Before: 10% of the big blind.
Increase blinds: every 12 minutes for the first 15 levels. Then increase blinds every 15 minutes.
Late registration: 3 hours and 5 minutes.
Each table is 8 players and the final table of 9.
The tournament lasts 2 days.

Do you plan to play this main tournament?

How would you play a tournament of these characteristics?

If you ever played this tournament, how was the experience you had with him? How were the players you faced?

Thanks for your answers and / or advice.
Greetings and good luck at the tables.

This sounds like a good Tournament to play in. I like the blind structure. I like that it is a two day Tournament. I don't think I can play in it though. Good luck to all thought who do play in it though.

I am not a huge fan of these mammuth event with 50.000 or more players. By nature you need to be incredibly lucky to reach the final table, and it does not really fit my schedule to play tournaments, that last for so many hours. But that being said, if poker sites are going to make such events, I certainly agree, that they should start with deep stacks and have a slow blind structure, so that the skill of players get as many chances as possible to show.

I agree with you, which is why I like phase tournaments more for these MTTs. Playing a lot of smaller field tournaments to end up in one large field of, for example 7K players, instead of playing one huge tournament against 50-100K players.

Yeah during the SCOOP I played their 2,2$, or whatever it was, phase MTT, and after I cupple of attemts I reached the phase two. Unfortunatly I busted out as one of the first players with a 30BB or so stack due to a play, which in hindsight was probably a little bit to aggressive. But then again I am mostly a cash game specialist, so my MTT strategy could need some work :)

there I will be 100% confirmed, I love this series because if you know how to play the first levels it becomes very profitable, I think in these series it is when I have won the most money, a lot of players donating their tickets to grow the prize pools

Late registration: 3 hours and 5 minutes.
I really hate those 2h+ late reg tournaments; rest is fine
Overall i have to say that I'm really disapointed About the micromillions. I'm a Micro stakes MTT Player and For EU timezones they barely run good tournaments. way too many random gametypes like 8ball, horse, razz, stud,... in the Primetime.
I was really Looking Forward to the Event but it was a big let down and I think i have only played 2-3 Events so far

sure there is a difference between 50k-100k, but you are not Winning a 7k Tournament either unless you run really hot/get lucky.
someone on cardschat posted an interessting Formula saying "Player per table/entrants= avg. Chance of reaching FT".
7.000 = 0.13%
50.000 = 0.02%
100.000 = 0.01%

That is all good and fine when you talk solely about being 1st in an MTT. Although that is the goal, reality is that we are all happy when getting ITM and making as many pay jumps as possible.
That being said, better to play vs 7K then 50K opponents.

Considering that all online MTTs have a huge number of players, thats usually bigger then 1000, I'd say that chances to win are always pretty slim (for 100K should be 0,001% cause for 100 players it's 1%).

At the same time, there is an alternative, and that is playing SnGs, which are more winable, based on the odds, but are not as satisfying cause of lower prices...

Exactly. The majors typically start at 9pm, and if you then need to play for 8 hours, its until 5am in the morning. Maybe its just me, but I am to old for that. I would almost rather be in Asia and have to get up at 3am in the morning :)

yeah i rounded up, it's 0,009% and 0,018%
I still struggle to decide which one i prefer.
SnGs are easier to win, but Winning (winnin = reaching FT for me) a MTT is so much more lucrative….

same for me. I have to work during the week so playing poker until 3 in the morning for 20€ is not worth it :D
at least they give us 2 really nice tournaments for Sunday with 100k gtd and 1mio gtd

The truth is that the schedule has a lot of influence, according to the country where one is.
In argentina for example the tournament will start at 3 pm.

Yes its obviously designed for players in North or South America. Which made sense when their main market was US. However since 2011 players from US have not even been allowed to play on Stars, and players from other countries in that time zone are a minority. So to me its honestly a bit annoying, they have still not changed this. I guess, it has become "tradition", but that is kind of a poor excuse in my opinion.

Not for nothing is a bad excuse, everything they say is true.
The volume, the risk, the practically zero probability. Thats the reality.
It's just the feeling of wanting to be there, in the final part of such a big event and close to important prizes.
Looking again, there is little of the initial 200bb stack for the large mass of players that will participate.
