Hi all,

I need a bit of advice on trying to grow my bankrolls and figured I would reach out to the cardschat community. For too long now I have been playing mtt's on pokerstars, 888 and wsop and trying to get a big win but the variance is killing me. I have been trying to hone my skills in mtt's on a daily basis by studying hard and spending hours at the tables but I have been breaking even for too long, occasionally winning a little to boost my bankroll but mostly seeing it dwindle away. I have very little experience playing cash, sit n go's (in high volume at least) and spin n go's. However, I am a realist and see that unless I change my game selection I will be forever chasing that big win to move up the limits.

I guess I will start by playing maybe 100 games on each of these formats. I know this is a very low sample size but it will at least give me a basic idea of where I can potentially make profit. I was wondering which games you guys prefer to grind which give you the best results. I imagine my cash game skills will be terrible due to my inexperience, as well as the fact that I have predominantly studied mtt strategy for the majority of my poker life. Maybe it would be best to grind the 27, 45 and 180 man tournaments where mtt skill can still be used but with less variance than the huge field tournaments on stars for example. Once I identify a game where I have a slight edge I can then focus on that game and put in high volume, perhaps take shots, and in an ideal world pay the bills so I don't have to get up at 5am to go work a shitty job that puts me in a negative mindset.

I have $1000 on stars and around $300 on 888poker and wsop. It's definitely something to work with but it's been the same for a long time. I'm hoping to get my bankrolls going in the right direction and I would greatly appreciate any tips or advice.

Many thanks

1. maybe give yourself time and grind up? so 2c>5c>10c if its cash and so on?
2. I feel what you are saying about varience =) so maybe try zoom, it's been treating me nicely... plus the fredom to walk away
3. small sng (turbos specially!) have almost nothing to do with MTT knowledge... it's a shove fest for J9o,24s I lost too much there to advise anyone going there.... but maybe you can try multitabling and it will go smoother. But to be honest I playd micros, so maybe the situation on lows/mids is different.
Plus ICM is what you will be constantly thinking about rather thatn anything else
4. If you are good at MTT as you say tru very slow & small field mtts, they have less "one big win for zillions of $$$" structure, but you can turn 10 in to 200 is you good

you could focus on the SnG tournament, where 90 or 180 players, and see for yourself what is best to choose a structure (regular or turbo) is clearly more stable than the MTT, watch Twitch where players play these tournaments see, work on the mistakes and you will have a profit:) GL!

Thanks for the advice. Yeah i've watched all of Gripsed and Kevin Martin's videos and learnt a hell of a lot. Also Jamie Staples and just started watching teamneverlucky's videos.

I love mtt's bro, they're my favourite and easily my strongest game selection. I study most days and feel like i'm on the right track. Problem is I've tried for years and years with high volume and I STILL can't get a big win. Starting to lose faith in them. I'll probably still play the small stakes mtt's with big guarantees but I need another format on the side so I don't inevitably lose my bankrolls.

Thanks again.

On 888poker try the sng $5 9 handed turbo 36 players or if its too much the $1 8handed multitable 40 players .
On stars try if you like the sngs $8 180 players , $7 45 players turbo , $4.5 180 players .
good luck. :)
as asedu said step up step by step on cash games if you like them , but on MTTs , as you have the $$$ , don't play micros or very small buy ins if you can.
