I am thinking about hosting a hold'em tournament but can't decide on a good structure. I would be expecting about 20-30 players. Ideally I would like the tournament to last about 6-7 hours. I also need to know how many chips I would need to support that amount of people. Any ideas would be much appreciated.

It depends on your strengths and weaknesses. I love large fields, deep stacks and long blind levels. Some people prefer small turbo type structures. (though finding those people to be few and far between because those structures favor the weaker players).

i'd guesstimate with that structure 20 entry's would take about 6 hours and 30 about 7 hours at most.
could be over a little earlier. looks good, i'd go with it.

edit: just noticed you have a 15/30 level. assuming your going to have $5 chips, i would add a 5/10 level. looking at it again leads me to believe 20 peeps would last 4-6 hrs and 30 about 5-7hrs. add one more level (5/10) and i think you will get closer to your target time frame and i doubt it would run over.

I guess my main problem now is what is a good website to purchase the amount of chips I need. I am estimating about 30-40 max, so about 1500 *Chips in total.

Edit: Chips, lol.

If you want to test your deep stack skills or just hate push-fold, you can opt for the longer tournaments.
