Hello!

I am a fairly new poker player hailing from MA, USA. I have tried all types of games but I love playing MTTs for two main reasons which are 1)Its fun when you are deep in the tournament with deep stack and 2)They provide you a good chance to boost your bankroll in no time.

For that purpose, I deposited USD 50 at Americas Cardroom to play Satellites/Low-Stakes Tournaments.

Given that I don't have much experience in bankroll management, I wanted some opinion from you guys on the types of tourneys I should play (normal, turbo, hyper-turbo) and for what buy-ins.

Eagerly looking forward the responses. And nice to meet you guys!

You should be playing $1-3$ and if you want to take a shot at a few 5$'s. I would suggest normal blinds unless for 1$ can play turbos/hypers. Good luck!

Hi PoliticoV. ~ Welcome to the forum.

Well proper BRM tells me that you should not be playing more than 50c tourneys, mind you others woud disagree. I was always told to only play tourneys with a buy-in of 1% of your bank-roll.

If you do play a few at that level and perform well, it should not take long to build up some money and satty your way in to some 1/2 decent tourneys ~ and there isn't nothing to say if you satty your way in you shouldn't play em! Gl and let's hope to hear of your successes on here in the future....:D:D:D

if you get the chance to play some decent 50c MTTs go for them. even a 1$ buy-in isn't going to hurt your bankroll, especially if you get to cash a few times. if you manage to get a positive ROI you won't even have to refill, which is always nice :D

This bankroll not for MTTs, you need at least $300-400. With $50 you can only play SNG, it is the best option if you want to follow BRM.

If you multi table i would say play 0.25 & 50cents Sit n Go and also play some $1 knockouts as they give a way to get $$$$ without being ITM stage.Never play any tournamets higher than that unless you satty to it.

I totally agree with horizon. If you have a $50 back roll, Start playing $1-$2 sit and goes. Play single tables to start out with. especially if your fairly new to poker. And welcome to CC and the wonderful world of poker.

Thank you all of you for the warm welcome and advice. I will surely think of adding SnGs in my grinding. As a follow up question, can a person apply MTT strategy on SnGs?

Cheers!

It all depends how you play MTT. Think of it this way, MTT are like marathons and SnGs are like sprints. I race sprint cars and i sure as hell dont race a 20 lap shoot out like i would race a 100 lapper. Hope you can use this as a perspective.

Perfectly makes sense. Thank you!

Play normal. DON'T play turbo or hyper until you have more experience.
