Hello,
I am playing many MTT freerolls, with 2-8k players, and I want to know, what's your opinion about folding until we get a high pair or A with another high card, and going all-in then, or waiting for A with any second card, medium pair or suited connectors like 89s to drop and playing them?
I do basically go first way at very beggining and changing my tactic during tournament, not bluffing too much. I Always got to 10% best players.

the best way to play mtt imo is to play faily tight and in postion that is very important too.yes so you should wait and play top hands.

thats true
because playing agressive with low suit connectors + raise from utg and open raise out of position its f8cking risky buisness anyway
got money only "tight and in postion"
i think

You must know when to use your position to exploit weaknesses on the table.Stealing become important when your stack are way below average and the blind and antes were already high. For example when everybody folded to your small blind position, this is are great opportunity to steal given the bb had slightly more chips than you.But against a monster stack just wait for middle pair to premium and shove.

At early stage of MTT is best to play tight and then you have to change your tactics .You need to get chips! So in mid phase of the tournament you can play with suited connector and small pairs or siuted cards generally.

mtt play

i really believe in playing super tight at first just to get rid of bingo players. there is plenty of time to build your stack.

Patience

Be patient, wait for good hands, but use your position appropriately, steal blinds if you can. Also, simply pushing with big hands when you get them is not a great way to get value out of them!

hello there,
i believe that tight playing is the best way to play a tournament cause the first goal is finishing in the money.of course it has to do with the position and the amount of raises and reraises you re facing whether you fold or not ''good hands'' but generally tightness might ''save your life''

In mtt freerolls it's very important to survive and like Harrington said "every pot you enter has the potential to consume all your chips" so play very tight in the early stages, go all in only with Aces cause if you do it with KK or QQ there's always at least one caller behind with an Ax putting you at risk. if you reach the 8 or 9 level you'll remark a lot of differences in play (no all in preflop, players turns tight...)

Well, I play really really tight, just calling with low pairs, raising with JJ over and never shoving. If I have the best hand, I want to capitalize and not get only 1 vilain stack.

It's better to put pressure on the flop then have everyone folding pre flop. And, it gives me the opportunity to fold a bad flop for example.

Middle levels I start to play a bit more loose. But still in a passive-agressive mode. That helps to put pressure on the opponent.

Please remember the fold equity to get some good pots when the blinds are high!
