On FT you can win a sattelite seat then unregister from the tourney and they pay you back in tournament dollars which can be used to buy into tournaments.

I have been going through them and picking out some of the more lucrative ones to play, especially the ones with x amount of guaranteed seats that usually cost about 20% - 30% of the sattelite ticket to be won.

Essentially youre looking at outplaying just a quarter of the field.

Just playing TAG should cut it.

I started by doing the $6 satts for the doouble deuce, and from my first one used the T$ to buy into other sattelites

I havent been spending the tournament dollars on normal tourney buyins and by just playing as small as $6 and ranging up to $14 I have managed to amass $254 in T$ in 2 days.

When I have more than $1000 I will then start spending them on $24 tourney buyins thus getting out ALOT more tournaments for the same amount of money.

I wont touch my regular BR and will only use the T$ to buy into tournaments - with $1000 worth in T$ thats approximately 40 buyins for tourneys that have cost me only a portion of the buyin.

Hopefully if everything works out right, by the time I have spent all the $T, I will have increased my BR to well in excess of the $1000.

I'll start the process all over again.

I'll let you know how it goes :)

You would have to get a ticket in at least 1 out of 3 tries to make this slightly profitable. Are you telling me you are doing this or better? If so what are the field sizes and how many places pay. Just seems pretty ambitious that you can get too $1000 with a positive ROI considering the variance in these type of tournaments. Would be interested in reading a bit more detail on your theory.

I've been thinking about doing this myself based on the poor play I saw in the world record satellites. If you're good at playing to stay alive it seems like it can work well.

I remember reading an article in Poker Player about someone who won an entry to a world series event at a satellite and kept entering more satellites anyway just to cash out. I'm not sure how it works with those events, but apparently there's a way.

I've entered satellites after winning one and it deducted from my cash not T$. Is there something I have to do to use T$? I thought it must have only been for regular tournaments.

\/\/ Haha, oh that makes sense. Totally missed that :D

Most sattys pay 10% of the field, and returns are usually 10:1, so not sure what you mean by 'only having to beat a quarter of the field;' unless you place better than 1:10 buyins you are just even. I am ITM in these maybe 30% of the time... u r right TAG approach and also a tortoise approach work well...

why on earth would I play a satty that only pays top 10% ? I may as well rather play a tourney

I am referring to say :

$14+1.50 to get into $50 tourney

or $6+.50 to get into $22

in both cases, all you need to do is come top 25% as opposed to top 10 and the money is equal

Playing a satty that only pays top 10% would be for instance $10 to get into a $100 tourney - I would rather just play a $10 tourney or sng

Lol I was just telling my roommate about this strategy I've started using

Right now I can't because I've taken a hit to bankroll (damn those ring games) but what I did was this on Fulltilt:

at least 2-3 Satellites to the 50-50 (a 50+5 buyin) occur around 6:40-7ish. One is a 2 dollar rebuy/add on, and another is a 3 dollar rebuy/add on. I played the 2 dollar, and the field gets up to around 120 people, give or take 15 people. Depending on how many rebuys/add ons there are (I believe is how it works) the average payout for an entry is between 13-16 places, with 3 places paying out 8-10 bucks before that. I figure, that's about top 10%, and the competition is not stiff for the first 30-50 people out. You can EASILY double up depending on your table, and if you get a bad beat early you can rebuy. My strategy so far has been to rebuy up to 2 times max, and add on. If I were to rebuy twice, plus add on, i'd spend 8 dollars total. So, to break even I'd have to place 1 out of every 6 attempts (roughly, 49 dollars plus the 25 cents or so for each tourny fee). If you wanted, and I have been contemplating this strategy, you could not rebuy at all, only add on, and then you'd have to win an entry once out of every 12/13 tries (4 dollars a pop). This is VERY doable, as the competition is not hard and if my memory is correct at least one of them is not a turbo (I could be wrong, it's been a while). I've won 3 entries, played once and cashed the other two, out of a total of 6 times. All 6 times I've followed that discipline and made it to the final 40/30 easily. I'm a novice in all respects of the word, but I feel good about this strategy.

Just my two cents.

*EDIT: Forgot to add, when you unregister from the 50-50, it gives you 55 tourny dollars, and if you turn that into cash, after the 'processing fee' it ends up being 52.25, not bad for 3 hours of work. One does start at 6:50/6:40 exactly, and it always finishes before 9:30 as that is when the 50-50 starts. Usually takes 2-3 hours from what I've experienced.

I've been playing the same satellites with good results so far (knock on wood - please no doomswitch trigger) and have used the T$ to play SNGs and other MTTs. It's like getting a bargain buy in rate. Definitely +EV for decent tournament players.

The $50 satellite to the 750K on Sundays also pays 25% of the field.

Just curious, what was your initial investment to start all this, or did you use FTP points to get started?

Best of luck
:)

Some variation of this is available at almost all sites that I know of.

At some point rrat, you want to reap some rewards.

I thought when you win a seat you automatically get seated in that particular tourney? Can you opt out of the tourney for T$?
