underbet flop - overbet turn
I notice that a lot of players at the stakes I play like to underbet the flop and then overbet the turn when they are the pfr.. This line baffles me because I've never seen it in cash games and I don't think I've seen it in tournaments on tv or on YouTube or anything, it seems to only happen in lowstakes..
What do you guys think this line means? I see it most on drawing boards. I'll try to find an actual example later tonight, but lets say villain opens for 3.5bb pre and we call, heads up now. Flop is TJ5rainbow. They bet 1/3 pot. We call hoping to complete our straight. Turn is blank, lets say a 2, they bet the pot.. We fold. Is this play a bluff most of the time? Every time I've run into it, there's no way I can justify calling.
What do you guys think? Do you ever run into underbet on flop and overbet on turn? Have you ever been able to justify calling? Does this play mean a strong hand or a bluff?
