I am playing in a live tournament this weekend. It's not classified as a turbo but the way it's structured it might as well be. It's not a huge tournament that will draw 50-80 people but when it's down to the top 20, it's basically an all in fest because everyone is under or just above 10 big blinds. Is there a certain strategy I need to employ here? I have won the tournament before by being very aggressive in position but got lucky a lot running good. I have made the final 20 every time so im likely to get there again but need input on what to do when the blinds go super high.

I don't think there's much secret in playing it, although it's turbo and people will all in most of the time. I think that the general rule for playing MTT's is still valid, I mean, play solid and aggressive poker, with hands you consider the best at the table, like, if you have AA, KK or AK (sometimes even QQ, AQ or JJ) and someone goes all in, just call it, and he'll regret for having done it. But before calling all-ins, try to observe the players and what do they do with which hand, cause this week I was playing a live tounament here in my city and I was very solid and playing very few hands, just observing the players, and I repaired lots of all-in raises and calls with some hands like Q7, or K8, so be aware of the playstyle of the players before going more aggressive, not saying these hands are the worst, but they really depend on the flop, so if you catch one of these, try to see the flop if it's worth accordingly to your stack. Just don't forget those 3 P's: Patience, Position and Power of the hand, and I know you'll win lots of hands.
Good Luck bro

study up on push fold ranges. chances are you are folding hands you should be calling or shoving with. use position to your advantage. be observant of the players who are likely to fold to pressure and short stacks attack attack attack

You should probably learn what hands should you shove from what position, this might be helpful.

playing in online tournaments are rarely won and what is of interest to note that there is an interesting phenomenon. Behind a loose-passive table to appear at least one loose-aggressive player, as the nature of the game the rest of major currencies changed dramatically. A kind of macho literally terrorizing the table their aggressive and unpredictable actions that makes loose-passive players to become tight-passive. You think I chose a loose-passive table, but you have all the time to deal with a single aggressive opponent — other players will prefer to sit or quickly go away from the table

I think so. Win the tournament and the bolee live online, it is very difficult tournament. Look at the game statistics. It is clear that the winners are not novices. They probably play a very long time to achieve such results.

Study push-fold charts. Knowing what hands to shove and call based on your stack size is super important in turbos, it's key to building a stack. When you do build a stack don't start calling too light just play your A game.

How should you decide on that? Of course you can just learn a push/fold chart by heart, but how did they come up with it? Might make it easier to remember for me if I knew how to calculate it.

Depending on the stack to try to play a certain style when it allows you to be aggressive, loose and cautious player when need to be tight and try to play aggressive.

Love the opportunity to play any live tournament for I don't live too close to a casino. I would say have fun.

Play straight forward at the beginning stages. When the blinds are up and you have 20 bb stack, don't get fancy. All in or fold. Call tight jam hard. You need to keep accumulating chips. Steal blinds at every moment you can.

I've won Turbo tournaments, however...

I hate them. More luck than skill, especially in the later stages (as you stated).

use patience and position, pick your opponent wisely.and mix it up.dont become predictable to others.and as regards you winning it before by being aggressive and getting lucky.youll find every one even the so called very best players have to get lucky occasionally in every tourney they win .thats the nature of the game.

Revise shove charts and know when is best to get all in. Remember position matters, even when shoving.
