I would like to say that I am big fan of turbo tournaments. I don't like playing in $1,000 - $5,000 tournaments with starting chips 5k and 15 minute blinds the game will take hours to finish. I rather for the tournament to be in around the 5 minute blind statue. Only if its the 100k tournament on Sunday that i wouldn't mine the 15 minute blinds.

i would recommend turbo mtts to players who cant invest in a bankroll and dont want to take months building one.
its a quicker structure which is great for jamming in a quick game and if you run well you have yourself a nice bankroll to progress a solid foundation from if you have 100 buy ins at 3/4 doller mtts you can go to work alot quicker an make more effective profit margins.
roi of 40% for example would be far greater that playing micros for months to try and get upto a few hundred quid.

however im not sure its the wisest way forward long term if we are looking at making a consistant flow of profit at a sustainable rate.
unless the player is some kind of hud turbo push fold expert and have a huge edge in late stage which is rare

Same....im a turbo/hyper player...I usually don't have the time and don't usually like playing 8 hour deepstack structure games....However you need to have a good strategy and a solid push/fold game in order to be successful in turbos....they are much harder than regular tournaments....Now you have to be able to accept variance and that you will take many bad beats in these games!

This is my fav structure too, Turbo's not Hyper or hyper turbo's but just Turbo's. I find it faster and more exciting = quicker to the money hehehe

in low buy ins tourneys i also prefer turbo tourneys, however with higher buy ins at least 11 dollars, i would prefer deep stack structures where the blinds increase at least every 15 minutes. turbo tourneys have lots of variance than regular or deep tourneys so you will need more luck to achieve good results.
you can play lots of turbos and some regular tourneys if you have a downswing, because bad runs are much shorter in non turbos tourneys

As for turbo tournies and stuff i like those much better as i don't have the patience to dedicate many hours to a poker game online. If i see a game and it has a starting stack over $3000 chips i won't consider it unless it's a private game from one of the forums i am a member of, and i only play those for the comraderie, the actual, poker bores me when it's deepstack and 15 minute blinds, uggh! Then to top it all of the have unlimited re-buys and that to me folks is all she wrote, i see those combos together and i am running away fast as i can.

I hate turbo games because i get so many bad beats. Unbelievable. Only players that love to gamble will have success at this kind of tournament.

Well yes most newbies play turbos cause they cba to play 2hr 45man sng,so they play with some crazy hands... I prefer faster games myself, but dont like when i get dead cards and blinds ruin my stack :)

I prefer the turbos as well especially during the week where I don't have 8 hours to play a tournament after work. On the weekends I'm ok with slower structures and I don't really care if there is late registration or re-entry for hours because it seems to me that's mainly dead money when the blinds are getting high.

Turbos feel more like a lottery to me, as I prefer a tighter game where I can flow with the blinds and get a better read on the table and the behavior of my opponents. But, just as in life, some people prefer apple pie, while others prefer cherry. If they work for you, then stick with them.. and good luck ;)

We play a turbo game at my home game. It is 5 minute blinds, 1000 chips 10.00 buy-in and 6 seconds to act. Your hand is folded if you do not have your chips in the pot in 6 seconds.

I like turbos when I want to get a quick tournament in, but most of the time I prefer regular structured tournaments because of less variance.

Turbo stands between regular and hyperturbo games. You have to accumulate chips at the beginning, not to be pressured at the end part.

I personally hate (Hyper)Turbo's. Especially Hypers, that has nothing to do with poker imo.

I find Turbo Tournaments very hard when the field is bigger...when it's a tournament with 18-27 players it's okay, but when it gets more I find it very difficult to find my rhythm. However, I slowly but surely I'm starting to get the hang of it. I know I just have to make a few tweaks to my strategy in order for it to work! Having said that, I'm convinced that when the blinds get shorter, luck becomes a bigger factor.

Turbo tournaments are the only way to go unless you want to spend all day playing.
