Hey all. I reached level 5 on 888 poker and can now play the daily $50 Freeroll. It is super turbo. You start with 3K chips and within half hour blinds are 1K/2K. It’s really a crap shoot. I’ve noticed players calling all ins with J7os pre flop and today I flopped a full house, checked and had 2 people go all in with ace high. Seems like you could pick up bad habits playing these unless you are aware of why it’s crazy.

Thoughts?

These kind of tourneys are just crap shoots and no skill. All about luck period.
Yes they do create bad players, but these players were most likely not that good to start with.

Agreed. These turbo, all-in or fold structures develop more bingo players than anything. Just play your 2 and consider what the Donk/s next move may be

Turbo is bad enough but super turbo is just a joke. It's not for people who actually want to play poker properly and experience the game as it should be. It's just a crap shoot as has been said already.

Turbo tournaments is gambling at it's finest. I do enjoy getting to the final table before 2 hours is up though. I play turbos when i'm drinking.

The fact that you recognize this means you should not. I actually really enjoy turbos. I feel that I have a considerable edge when it comes to short stack play in the turbos that I play in. My first real score was a turbo. Probably need to run pretty hot to bink a freeroll turbo though. Talk about a nightmare.

I'm not a big fan of turbo as they do create the opportunity to become a bad player. Early on the play is crazy but if you get deep in them them the play becomes better.

Thanks for replies. I guess I was right in my thinking. I only play the turbos with freerolls which is fine because I can’t lose anything and if I get a bad beat it’s no odds. Can help get a little cash though.

I guess most freerolls are like this because the sites want you back playing real money sooner instead of wasting away in a Freeroll where they make nothing.

I don't like playing these kind of tournaments. I hard to play with everyone going all in for the first 20 minutes.

I do not think that those free create bad players, I think it creates bad habits in the players, if a person plays only that kind of free and does things that can be considered crazy then when he goes to play a different tournament he will apply those bad habits

Heya ~

No games create anything in people, neither bad players or good players. Competitive games give us the chance to be good or bad. Some are better than others.

Understand you are competing with others.

in many cases if they create bad players, other times they are only players who do not care about anything, and as they have nothing to lose in them

As online poker player, you have to adapt to different types of games, the turbo, hyper turbo, normal speed, you have to change the chip for each type of tournament.

I think turbo tournaments are much more difficult than normal. In these tournaments you should know the push-fold strategy well. Not necessarily a bad game with J7o push, depends only on the big blinds. Of course, many people rely on luck and go with everything all.in.

I think donk players created the Turbo Freerolls loool.

Seriously a Turbo game needs so much luck and in terms of strategy all good hands worth to shove when short stack should be played Jam preflop whatever stack you have.

no. just avoid the landmines best you can. with blinds going up that quick you cant just sit and wait for a super premium hand, but theres no need to go nuts with j7 pre flop super early either. but really that's a total crapshoot. unless you can double up a few times early on, youre going to have no chance anyhow.

Yeah turbo/short stack makes the game more luck based than regular. Though I do suppose one could say it's just... a different game, played differently. I stay away from Turbo especially if I'm feeling like I want to win more faster etc., as that's usually a sign of some time of tilt in me.

Turbo-tournaments by their structure are simply forced to play in an aggressive and free style, there is not just time to wait for a good hand. There are players who like to play turbo and hyper turbo, and they have a certain style of play suitable for a turbo.
