I am normally a full ring cash player, I play at the micros and am reasonably profitable. I noticed the 'Battle of the Planets' leaderboards that stars do, and thought it would be good fun to have a go at grinding 9 man SnG's. I usually play fairly tight (16/13 or 17/14), my question is how tight should I be during the start of a SnG? Do you start tight and then obviously loosen up as the blinds go up/players fall or start a little looser?

Also I would love a heads up early if theres not much money in SnG's.

I always start off tight waiting for premium aa ak kk etc. Then when I get a double up or two I loosen accordingly

I dont play sng rly but I did for A small sample the idea is to play very tight/loosen as the blinds increase/obv but one thing that I heard that is pretty standered is once you hit the money you then try and win it all you either want to win it all or bust in 3rd might not make sense but I'm sure other people here can explain it better DO NOT TIGHTEN UP ONCE YOU HIT THE MONEY!

I´m doing the opposite, transition from 9-man STT to cash.

Try to get on to ICM for 9 man, also get on to hand ranges-push/fold more than postflop play and focus a lot on Bubble play. You need to start tight at least for the first 2 levels because by ICM the chips you gain early are worth less than the ones you lose, of course want to double up but not risk much. When blinds get to 50 then start to open. Also remember that we always are shortstacked compared to cash, you start with 75bb´s and when you get to 50 level are only 30bbs, by the time you reach 15-20bb´s get to push/fold mode (of course need to consider effective stacks of everyone else.).

People say that on $7´s and above things get rough, on lower limits i run a good roi couple months back on Stars in a small example (like 350 games) and have a positive roi on more than 1000 games on fulltilt 2.20´s and $5.50´s after WIZZIM help me on a review session video. So still money on S&G´s but prepare for a higher variance compared to cash.

google sit and go planet, good info there.

Thanks for the replies, especially Logan, thats the exact answer I was looking for.

Yeah Im just a bit bored of cash at the minute, just gonna give SnG's a go for a little while. The first downside is that on cash I can comfortably play 16+ tables, whereas I can only play 8-10 SnG's at once. Plus I feel I should wait for all of them to finish before opening new ones.

Yeah, increasing blinds is what cut you some tables and when go deep need to focus more, so you do need to play less tables than cash, with practice later gona know faster the different stages and what to do on each one so probably can add couple more later.

About play sets or continue loading after finish each one, at the start is better to keep by sets and wait to finish all, this way you focus more when blinds are high and get used to push fold mode. I usually was reloading only tables that bust early (first 2 levels), because diference on blind levels will not be much but find that playing on sets was better for me, but other people can reload always and still do it great, so you need to try and decide on that. gl.
