I don't like rebuy tournaments, because people are not as careful with their blind level 1 pre-flop shoving as they would be if there would be no rebuy, resulting in skill taking less influence in the tournament.

I play rebuy tournaments, but I never do rebuy. All you have to do is resist one hour (until the end of the rebuy period), then everything is easier.

I don't really like rebuys either. I try not to have to rebuy ever If I am having a bad day and cant get to the break without having to rebuy then I usually just leave the game when I run out of chips.. I don't mind the addons and again I addon if I am doing well and think I have a chance to go far in the tournament. If I am almost out and see a lot of players well ahead I don't bother with the addon as I figure it wont help me out much and I save it to buyin to another game and move on..

I think rebuy tourneys are sometimes like a raffle. However, if I do play them I will rebuy if necessary, only if the min cash is more than I have invested. Therefore if it is a $30+$3 tournament. I will rebuy if the min cash is over $63.00. As regards the ADD-ON I will only buy it if my stack is lower than the avg. stack. If it is higher I do not add-on.

I remember reading this advice somewhere, (can't remember where), and I know that someone will know it as well. It seems good advice to me........Gl :D:D:D

The sites I play at have all re buy/add on or late registeration for 12 levels, or reenter but no add on. What I do in all of them is to re buy once. If I don't make the money, then oh well. As for the rebuy/addon ones, if I make it to the first break, I addon no matter. That's because a lot of the players do, and I don't want to be short stacked.

I prefer freezeouts but they are less common now, and almost none of GTD tourneys are freezeouts. I have a similar rule as papa in terms of my rebuy/add on strategy. What I really don't like though is the late registration tourneys. At least those that last longer than the first hour.

I like R+A tourneys because ppl play lose at the beginning. They dont mind losing their stack cos they can rebuy anyway.

I'm not the most appropriate to respond, because game with and without rebuy and add-on. But my preference has always been, is and always will be a tournament without rebuy or add-on.

I believe that anyone who has an extensive bankroll, use it to strengthen your table and your game, knowing when to eliminate the opponent, have recovered their chips and will be in a good position. I've played well for a while, but I see no great advantage.

I don´t like it too. People go all in with 2s and beat AK just to try to double.

Can't stand them! Can't stand them! I cannot stand them! As veltins said, they are a complete donkfest. I don't like any tournament format that minimizes the level of skill involved in the game. R/A tournaments are one of the worst in this regard because they allow bad players to buy their way out of their horrible plays.

I don't like R+A tournaments, because many players, with the possibility of rebuy, will play like a bingo, and that crushes your strategy, you can't make the correct moves because it won't be respected as it would if there isn't a rebuy possibility. Depends os the value too. With higher buy ins, the number of bingo players tend to be smaller.

I try to avoid rebuy tournaments as much as possible and especially those with an available add-on. The reason being is because the aim is to get to the add-on period as cheaply as possible which eliminates the skill factor quite considerably. I believe that players are more willing to gamble going all in pre-flop when the blind levels are low because they know they can rebuy. These players want to try and accumulate a big stack early but they know they always have the rebuy option when they are eliminated. Ultimately, I believe that these tournaments are like a raffle, and I would personally avoid them.

I like to stay away from rebuy tourneys; only because it allows some players to play horribly and make donkey calls that can crush a good players tournament.

I like add-ons, but not a big fan of rebuys. It's like a cash game where the guy never leaves.

Not my favorite

If I play a rebuy, I generally figure on the cost being 2 buy ins plus the add on, if applicable. Sometimes they are fun if I want to play a very aggressive game.

Generally, I prefer a deep stack tourney with no Zombies!

Plus players are more likely to call with anything and win.

This is always a tricky situation for MTT players. On one hand there is great value to gain from a rebuy tournament because so much more money is put into the pot and you only have to buy in once (and maybe add on)right? But on the other hand you can find yourself running into a lot of people that play very loose early in the tournament and bust your cards with less than average starting hands or suck out on you. Its an acquired kind of play i say. I have seen DURR play a rebuy NLO8 tournament at the series where his breakeven was 7th place becasue he rebought so much. He actually got 3rd or something which is ridiculous lol. But its all up to how you play, if you have a large bankroll you can afford to play kinda crazy in order to build a huge stack for later in the tournament when rebuys are over, If you have small bankroll you can take a shot at buying in just once and getting the value from all the people that are rebuying so much. Its all about how you want to play the game, but just be aware that everyone plays them differently and there are going to be plenty of coinflips and general crazy play in the rebuy stages of the tournaments. Its just hard to say whether you are that kind of player. I say it works better for players that are super aggressive and can afford to play a little crazy. Build a big stack early in the tournament and then make a deep run and a decent cash for yourself. I am generally a player that likes freezouts more so if i play them its strictly for value and i'll limit myself to one rebuy and one add on only, that way i never invest too much into the tournament and can still get lucky and run deep and get great value. I actually won a 3$ rebuy when i was like 22, I think i rebough about 7 times in that tournament and ended up wining a field of 5225 So it was worth it. Since then i dont remember winning any huge fields by buying in just once or twice, maybe a field of 200 or so but nothing larger than that. So just be aware of the style of play people are going to be playing and the limits you want to set for yourself. Good luck in the future.

And in regards to adding on: Never add on if you are chip leader at your table, unless someone else can become chip leader by adding on, if that makes sense. There is no sense to add more chips for money when you cant win more at the table, therefore if nobody can add on and get to your chip stack, definitely do not add on. Most say dont add on if you are above avg chip stack, but that is going to change after the add on period is over, so Id say if you are in the top 10% of chip leaders Dont add on. if you are below and see yourself making a deep run by all means add the money to your stack and get as deep as possible. Goodluck

No rebuys

I, personally, don't like R+A tourneys, but sometimes I play them.

how about you? any advices how many rebuys to make (some ppl are doing them till addon), is not it wasting money?

I personally do not like a whole lot of rebuy tourney's. If there is one, I prefer it to end after the 1st break rather than a high number of levels. Makes the game go on far too long. Plus I primarily play with 1 bullet. 2 at most if early game and it doesn't fall below my risk vs bankroll.

I have 2 separate bankrolls I manage. 1 for cash and 1 for tourneys. I have a hard rule on both to manage my risk. If I lose up to 2% of either account on any given day, I stop playing. If I lose up to 5% of either account for the week, I stop playing for the week. Then I just go back to freerolls for practice the rest of the time until the following day/week. Then I have to also adjust to lower stakes and lower tourney's, avoiding rebuys until my bankroll is back up to snuff.

I've seen people take rebuy after rebuy after rebuy. At what point is it too much? Personally I like to keep playing on a bankroll that I don't have to keep depositing or refilling due to going bust. Just like trading, DO NOT chase or keep playing to attempt to recoup. Step away from the PC/table and regroup your mind. Once your mind is emotionally compromised, you're done. Don't chance it to luck or hope trying to recoup the damages. Come back to fight another day. It's not worth trading or playing poker on or near tilt.

It really depends on your BR, buyin and lastly your style.

Have to choose that suits those factors mentioned above.

I prefer freezeouts. I find that low level R&A tournies attract bingo players just shoving any hand so it can be frustrating to play
