I don't mind tourneys with a short list of players. Usually you get a much deeper game out of it because there is only 1-3 spots being paid depending. Usually it's a much tighter group so I can increase my range of hands a little more to get more value. here at my local casinos at least

There is more value to be had in larger-field tournaments. Bigger prize pool for a smaller buy-in, so I prefer the larger fields.

Bigger the better

Hi
I really enjoy a game when you have 4k-5k players playing and after nearly 2 hours your in the last 100 list.
It gives me more satisfaction that way.
You come across a vatiety of different players.
Thanks

I like the smaller fields, less of a time commitment.

I dont mind either way. I will mostly play smaller ones due to time constraints but wont play any that are way to small. I do love the bigger ones better as winning those are so much more thrilling but again I dont have the time to play 10-12 hours straight.

Small Fields

Do you like playing tournaments with small fields?

Bruno,

I use a spreadsheet to track my poker entries as well as my finishing places. With a little digging into some statistics I have found that when I play in MTT's > typically with more than 100 entrants or so > I typically land above the 50% meaning I almost always beat out half the field. To me that shows that I am just more reserved as a player and am not going all in pre with trash like a lot of people do. Or even all in with decent cards pre unless its forced upon me. The people that shove for their starting stacks into 15/30 blinds are ridiculous. That being said I enjoy watching it weed out the field.

Smaller fields > Less than 50 players or so have given me much, much more success. I am starting to realize that maybe I am not the best MTT player and should focus on SNG's if I want to actually make some money.

How about you? I would assume because this is your post that you enjoy smaller fields.

Great post! Good luck at the tables.

I usually do not pay much attention to that, but I think it does not matter much to me if they are small fields or not, as long as it's a good tournament

I prefer small fields but with a good prize pool. Naturally you have to make a bigger investment for that to be possible. People tend to play a little tighter the higher the buy in so you have to be a lot more focused.

I think it's easier to be at top 3 and win good money at tournaments where 300-400 players then play where 1000+ players.

I do not care. The game needs to be adjusted, depending on the amount of people.

But the more people, the longer the levels should be.
But personally it is more convenient for me.

I played some of those here and there, but I like bigger fields. Not sure why, or what's really the difference, once you are in a table it shouldn't matter that I think.

I kinds of alternate. I find that there is less variance in smaller field tournaments but there is nothing like making a deep run in a large tournament.
