It depends , unlimited rebuys its a totally diferent strategy than limited or no rebuy , for example, in unlimited you will find more people with a more loose game tryin to hit big pots, and they dont care about their stack that much , specially if addon is available . With limited or no rebuys, is a more conservative style , you will find more tight players . Gl !

I tried couple tournaments with unlimited rebuys and missed the point completely. It seems to be a game with unpredictable buy-in, so you can't really manage your bankroll. So looks like I'd better avoid it.

Lots of All-Ins

When re-buys are available and add-ons, I find the game very hard to play for you can't bluff anyone very often, for most times they will call - especially if the re-buy is low or micro-stakes. The only way to get into this game is to be very loose and go all in to try and build your stack, re-buy when necessary. Otherwise, you will just find yourself putting in blind after blind, never even seeing a flop! (I find that most people while the re-buy is still available will be all in pre-flop). I personally don't like these games for I don't normally play loose, but these games force you to be.

When I used to play tournaments regularly I loved re-buys. One of my biggest online cashes was in a $5.50 re-buy at pokerstars - it was for $5-6k - can't remember the exact amount.

Always enter a re-buy knowing that you will probably need to re-buy at least twice and make the add-on. However there is nothing wrong with giving up if a few re-buys doesn't work. Don't break the bank trying to stay in.

Players will play very loosely in re-buys in the early stages. Take advantage of that by trying to trap them with premium hands. You will need to build a nice stack to stay in.

Always take the add-on - you don't want other players on the table to have a huge chip advantage over you.

Once the re-buy period is over and add-ons are done play will become a bit more normal so pay attention to how other players change up their game at this point.

its annoying because on the 99 cent frenzy ya can win 50,000 chips and have everyone near 5000-10,000 and before the rebuy period is over they stock up to more than you and its just ridiculous for players that win for the majority of the game, the only upside is it fattens the the $$ for ppl ITM

they should have a limit on rebuys to 10 tops

Worth. Rebuys attract many weak players loving to shove in early stages. And help to create big prize pool. But I only rebuy in the beginning when the middle stack is not over than 50% of initail. "To rebuy later" means "to play in short stacks" what I don't like.

If your not expecting to be buying in at least twice and adding on at least once stay away, those games are to unpredictable to get decent reads on people until your way in the money playing real poker

I 'm surprised that some players during the tournament are 10 times re-buys , and at the end to win the tournament do not return the money that they spent on re-buys , whether it is wise to not know or play for fun have a lot of money , so they doing the right party :)

I am a fan of playing rebuy tourneys, as it allows for deeper stacked played and you are only raked on the inital buyin.

My rebuy strategy is to always late reg to the max and just take the addon so I am spending as little as possible and taking advantage of free equity in the prize pool since I am not rebuying.

Exactly what Trent said; I do the exact same thing.

I just wish more rebuy MTTs came with GTD prize pools, but I guess that's expected since they do take in less rake than re-entry MTTs.

Its good if you have a very solid amount of Money to make unlimited rebuys, Because if you only got the chance to re-buy just a few times it doesnt really worth at all.

Re-Buy, for me, consist on going All-in in any moment that you have a strong starting hand. So you can make a very interesting Chips Cash Stack since the begining of the tourny.

Obviously we all have different opinions but I do consider that it's the only reason of why Re-Buying Tournys are made for.

I play almost exclusively rebuys. Only freezeouts / re-entries I nowadays play regularly are NLO8 MTTs. Also note that in (most sites, PokerStars never was great with rebuys anyway) rebuys you don't have to pay rake for your rebuys :)

And strategy depends on tournament structure and opponents.

Sounds like worth trying... However in this case you find yourself with really short stack against an average. And you have to double several times in a row just to come up to an average. Does it work? Trent32la, are you profitable? I mean rebuys tourneys only, not overall.

In rebuy tourneys, as long as you are comfortable playing short stacked right away, I feel max late regging and just taking the addon is the most profitable strategy. As I said above, it allows you to not spend a lot and the amount you're paying in comparison to the prize pool divided by the # of entrants gives you a nice advantage and sometimes even 3x your buyin for a mincash. There are also players who will have busted out before the addon period so the field you have to navigate through is smaller. In addition, your time investment is not very big, especially in turbo rebuys.

I've used this strategy on Carbon/BCP/Bovada for nearly 3 years, and I am highly profitable in rebuy tourneys. Although I am starting out short stacked, my stack equity in comparison to the prizepool for the amount I spent at the end of the addon period makes up for not having an average+ stack where I could have spent more in the tourney.

To add to what Trent has already said, late registering right before the break starts also allows you to start with more chips for a lesser price compared to other tournaments at an equal buy-in total.

I also play on Carbon,eo so I'll be using their MTT structure for my examples. This is for late registrations only, prior to the last break before late registration closes and you can still re-buy + add-on.

1. For a $6 turbo, deep stack re-entry MTT:
-.60 rake [10%]
-5K starting stack
-250/500/50 blinds and antes
-10 BBs to start

2. For a $6 turbo, re-buy MTT:
-.20 rake [3%] - $2.20 [buy-in] + $2 [re-buy] +$2 [add-on]
-8K starting stack [1.5K + 1.5K + 5K]
-250/500/50 blinds and antes
-16 BBs to start.

Also, starting a 16 BB stack isn't as bad as you think. It's not that different than starting with a 100 BB stack and getting knocked down 16 BBs. You just adjust your play and go from there.

Ok, even with 16 BBs you are forced to play push/fold, if not from the start, but very soon anyway. On the other hand it's even somewhat easier - less decisions to make.

I applied similar strategy when I used to played 100K freerolls on PokerStars. Latest possible registration, then wait for a good hand and push. Either you are in cash, or you lost not too much time.

Well, thanks everyone for contribution, all your replies helped a lot. Now I have much better understanding of the subject.

think about it this way. if you suck out with a premium hand, you can still play in the tourney with a re-buy! 2 rebuys and an add-on seems very logical to me considering your bankroll.

if you have 1000 dollars play 5,5 dollar tournaments with rebuy. if you can manage to survive with your initial entry fee, the prize pool will also be like you spent 20 dollars in that tournament because many players play highly loose, especially in low buy-in tourneys, and spend lots of money in one tourney. so don't be afraid, don't give up on your tight plays in these tourneys and take your chances!

For any rebuy game . the jackpot and payouts, and the amount of players will determine whether I do Any if at all rebuys.
Yes , they seem to play very loose, especially the bigger the prise pool !
I try to play a tight game , and just try to hang in, and have lasted quite awhile - when I get too low, then I keep checking the players left before I decide if it is worth paying to keep playing.
