I have become quite unabashedly a tournament time banker. Yes, you may hate me, but I've come to find that it's quite profitable in that I'm experiencing fewer blinds than average, and getting over the bubble more often, since employing this strategy without shame.

To be clear, BetOnline doesn't allow for true time banking, rather I'm using all of the allotted time for each hand. While I'm guessing it's ten seconds, it adds up over the course of the tourney. I don't usually start dragging my heels until after the first break and it's becoming clear that I could get close to the money.

So, what do you think? Is this acceptable? Is it deplorable? At any point do you start to use the timer or time bank to get to the money?

yes i do use the timebank sometimes in bubble phase, but in general i think its a stupid idea because it damages the poker atmosphere and timebank should really used for tough decisions

Use it if it gets you into the money. otherwise your missing out on more hands at smaller blind stages.

A lot of people use the time bank. I dont think theres anything wrong with it, but sometimes I just want to play and the clock running can get irritating, but who cares, play anyway you want. And if you cash more, even better :D

The response is about what I expected; mixed, but leaning towards permissible. At the small blind levels, I'm not employing this. Once we start to approach the first break, I've accumulated a decent stack, and the field has been narrowed to half, or so, I'll start to stretch out my game. If I'm short stacked, Im playing fast to see more hands.

Thanks for the feedback everyone!

I use the time bank when I'm near the bubble, not ashamed of it, after the looser game bubble is generally not very profitable but at least their buy-in is guaranteed.

I think the time-bank is for making tough decisions and when it gets near the bubble the people who use it to get over the bubble are playing the wrong level!! It annoys the hell out of me but I have noticed the higher the buy-in the less it happens in play. This would suggest that people with confidence and better experience don't resort to underhand tactics. I know that this is against the theme of this thread, but thats just how I feel. Gl all however you make it to the money. :D:D:
