Have a balance to be able to buy into a good few tournaments. at the beginning play very aggresive to find yourself in a very good position then from that position work your way up and dominate the table you are on... test out the other players on the table and see what hands they are calling with be very aware of there betting patterns... what do you guys think

I preffer this basic strategy instead.

Dont play aggressive early , you dont know your opponents yet.

Play tight when blinds are small , sit back and get involved with strong hands or connectors late for cheap (beggining players be aware you are getting involved with suited connectors for cheap to hit big hands , dont over play small top pair ,middle pairs and bottom pairs) , hit big hands and then play aggressive. The better you are post flop the more you can get involved with connectors.

For the rest of the time sit back and observe your opponents , look for reads and betting patterns and use this informaton against them later on .

Remember you cannot win a tornament in the early stages.

Your aim should be firstly to get deep .

When the blinds get bigger and ante comes in , you then go for the win , up the aggression factor . You have a better idea now of how to play your opponents, you should be treating each opponent accordingly to what you have learned about them , you will never be playing a fish and a solid reg the same way.

And finally dont have a strategy set when going into a tornament with unknown players , the best strategy I suggest is observation and adjustment . Every tornament is different and every table in that tornament is going to be different , the better and quicker you can adjust to the situation you are in , the better your results will be.

The first thing to do is to study your opponents well and start playing strong hands, then you can set the right strategy ...

I play slowly from the beginning and I often finish on the last table. It is very important not to play if you don't have anything. It works for me.

Well said from kanselau. I have observed many times those types of players who call every pre flop bet and never give up to a continuation bet and guess what, they are the easiest victims to stack them off. What is the purpose of make huge bluffs early on the tournament? Keep those spots for the later stages where having a huge chip advantage will launch you for sure to the FT.

This is a good strategy, but will it be successful?

Generally do not agree with the aggressive strategy at the beginning of the tournament especially when it is slow, meaning? In my opinion it is better to play only with strong hand and without all in, if crazy moves do not happen in prizes should fall, at least such a strategy should bring success

Begining of tournament

I'm amazed at the players who at the start of the tournament with any hand go all-in

If you have to ask others a question like that, you are not ready for real money tournaments. Keep your bankroll intact by playing freerolls for a while, by the time you start beating those, you will most likely have an idea about what strategy works for you.

I think you should observe the table at first and do the opposite, If table is tight go more aggressive and visa versa. Also observe players patterns - do they always make c bets etc. The more info you have the better quality decisions you can make. I would get more aggressive as I have more information.

I see a lot of the all-in first hand in freerolls for some reason. Don't quite understand it but they do. I play tighter early on when blind are small and there are no antes. As the antes get bigger I switch to a more LAG style depending on position and the table.

In any tournament you need first and foremost the skill and experience. Naturally, at the beginning of the tournament you should play without risking losing the stack. Play carefully. And only with the increase in the stack to decent values begin to play aggressively.
