Ok so as many of you know I play a ton of tournaments, since black friday mostly live but now on bovada I play alot more.
Well my question is,although I consider myself A pretty solid tournament player I know im not always gonna win or even place ITM.
I did read somewhere that even the best tournament players only cash about 12 perent of the time ?
I dont know if this is correct or not.
I seem to finish ITM quite a bit more than 12 percent of the time in the long run.
I am currently running on bovada around 70 percent ITM on the 1000k guarantees.
Was just curious what everyone elses thoughts on placing ITM percentages in mtt tournaments.
;)

Mega heater or you're a magician! I've heard good regs get anywhere from 10-20%. I've seen most people with higher ITM percentages have smaller ROIs though, cause they play to min cash. Obviously you'd have a higher ITM with a smaller field too, not sure what Bovada's traffic is like these days. I focus more on ROI myself

You are correct viper although I am still coming ITM most of the time it isnt final 18 players.
And bovadas traffic has been around 300 players for the tournaments I have been playing .

Probably a heater but might also be an indicator that you are to weak/passive mid to bubble phase of MTTs.
ITM is a nice indicator but ROI is a lot more useful and telling, but it also takes just about forever to converge.

Focusing on making ITM should never be your thought in a MTT, you dont make your money in MTTs by mini cashing. It comes from the deep runs where you finish in the top 3 since MTTs are so inherently top heavy.

The best MTT players in the world are not going to be the once with the highest ITM rate, a matter of fact they are going to have a ton of bust outs just around the mid to bubble phase play since thats where they pick up there aggression in attempt to set them selfs up for a deep run.

IDK about a heater. i have always been pretty consistant, but S93 I think you are right about the tightening up around bubble or just ITM.
I have been tring to be more aggressive at this time of the tournament but always seems to be card dead at this period and just affraid to pull the trigger with garbage.
Guess I need to work on that.
Thanks.

I think it's closer to ~ 11% to 15% (over a large sample size, including lots of large-field & referring to mid > high buyin).
In micro MTT's you'll generally see higher ITM for regs. than you will in higher buyin.

I have the same problem when it gets closer to the bubble. I'm going to try being more aggressive during this stage next time.

Good luck to you.

Um... can u tell us some tips

70% is pretty awesome stat. How long u been playing there?

I think bovada is reasonably easy to cash but unless u make the final table u usually don't get to much profit.

Certain tourneys I get ridiculous cash % but I go off profit margin. What I try do do is maximize the number of cashes so I play when there are 1:5 about players who cash?

Looks like u found ur niche good luck.

PS:

Im a great short stack player... I usually play 30+ min with everyone waiting for me to lose it definitely adds to the pressure.

I can offer tips.

I am a beginner and have played about 15 tourneys. I am lucky enough to finish a second place in Bovada's 10k guaranteed. I cashed another 500 guaranteed and win a SNG. SO I cashed 20% of the times...

It's really impressive for you to cash 70% of the times! Bovada's flagship 100K guaranteed is my dream and I hope I can reach the FT once...

btw, what's the highest ITM ranking of you in Bovada 100K?
