TI am not "big time" ready by any means. But I would like throw in some decent tournaments. Vets, would you suggest smaller buy-in tournaments at smaller establishments? To get used to the pressure and the like.

I'm consistently winning smaller and friendly (friendly like I know at least some of the opponents) and do very well online.

Should I toss caution and go for larger tournaments or stay the course and keep honing my skills?

I'm concerned that staying the course I won't be challenging myself, instead of facing tougher competition. Learning new things, strategies, etc.

Thoughts? I'd be much obliged.

Move up where ever you feel comfortable. I have played freerolls and up to $500+ buy ins. I like the larger buy-ins, >$100, that have longer and better structure. Although I have a hard time grinding out more than 6 hours. It can be mentally taxing.

That is exactly what i would recommend doing, raise the stakes a little bit and see how the competition changes. If you are succeeding at the same rate you were in the weaker tournies then just keep it up and increase the stakes even more.

Best of luck to you.

I'm more of what you'd classify as an "entertainment" player. While I am well versed in what I'm doing and how to play against the players at my buyins, I don't give much weight to bankroll management. I'd rather get as many tourneys in as possible at the $5-$20 range when I have time to play. I really only play outside of this range for satellite tournaments. I've found this to be the optimal range for my ability to win.
