I want to know is there a difference between tournament math and cash game math?

I am reading Poker Math That Matters by Owen Gaines, will it help me with tournament math as well?

A good example is a hand like King 7 offsuit. This is playable in cash games but you almost never play such a hand until late stage of tournament as it's so cooler-able.

In tournaments your looseness is affected by how many big blinds you can afford to lose at the given time. In cash games, your looseness should be pretty rigid (only loose if you notice a significantly tight opponent who folds easily and who needs to be raised to get a read on).

The ending of a tournament you must be loose as hell the moment a remotely hand comes along (even king 7 offsuit) and if you hit the flop you need to raise brutally. In cash game this mentality will make you bankrupt.

Maybe you'll better apply cash math in the tournament to get more out of the players. More can be very lost in relation to the time of the blinds. But you must be very attentive, what is your goal.

No, if you play the early stage of a tournament like a cash game you will almost never make payouts if you lose 2 significant hands where you hit but hit worse hand than the opponent.

Nowadays, there are several tournament players, who are dedicated to learning the gameplay of the cash game, to adjust this to the tournament, and indicate that this is a better way to play the game.

I have found betting patterns have to be way different in cash. For example half pot bets in cash are standard but in tournament they signal great strength. I think there is less math related to pot sizes in cash games and more based solely on effective stacks.
