Greetings everyone!
This is my first post here at cardschat, I've been reading for a while but a topic recently came up that I'd like everyone's opinion on.
The past two days I've placed 104th and 107th in FT's Daily Dollar Tournament. Both places earned me a mere $8.50 for about 5 hours of play. Both times I've been eliminated it wasn't due to any bad beats but I've simply gotten so short stacked that I have to pick a hand and go with it.
As the blinds get higher with about 300 people left (of the usual 9,000 starting field) I'm average stacked, and I find myself folding hands like AJo to UTG raisers, folding PP under 6's instead of maybe raising them up, and I don't gamble as liberally with draws as I do earlier in the tournament. My gut instinct tells me that I'm playing a bit too tight with the hopes that I'll make it to the $11 payoff placement. I feel like in order to have a shot at the final table and perhaps the $1,599 first place prize, I need to loosen up a bit and strive for a bigger stack. If I get knocked out and only make $4 then what's the difference if I hold on to make $8.50?
Any thoughts on what I could do to get deeper in this tournament?
