I was in the $4.50 sit and go 36-180 I had 8900 chips in 5th place there was 17 left 2 till the money . blinds we're 125/250 I had [Ad][Jd] there was a raise too 500 and I call flop comes [3d][10d][2s] villan bets 950 i call. turn is [JC] villan bets 1400 I call river is [As] and villain shoves. I tank then call I thot he might have J10 but turns over [3h] [3c] is there any way I could of got away from this ? This has happens to me before but its hard to put ppl on small pairs. I was thinking if I 4bet he might of laid down his 3s because we we're close to the money. What do yous think ?

I'm sure some people could fold there but I'm calling too.

There are lots of river shoves with any ace.

I wouldn’t overthink this hand. Even if you reraise preflop he’s probably calling. After hitting the set the only thing you could’ve done was hit the flush. No reason to think high two pair is no good. It would be a tough fold and one you would’ve questioned yourself over for a long time.

Just a spot where we go broke.

it's not easy, it's well played, it's hard to imagine that it's a game on the flop more with a pair of hand

I doubt he was folding there to be honest mate, and I actually hate AJ, my father folds it every time he gets it but he is a cash player. Nothing you can do about trips, having the flush draw kept you in and the turn and river was a dream for your opponent. I'm not sure I could have got away from that hand. He may have folded if you had shoved all in pre flop but that move seems pointless

You gotta call unless making the money to you is more important than coming in 1st place good luck in future lot times here AJ good

He made a standard 2BB raise, but your call was a mistake. But I agree with many in this stage of the tournament, AJ this hand is bad against opponents.

Yes - don't call a raise with AJ.. you could have avoided the whole problem, and if you had to call and missed the flop- FOLD.

Thing is, he didn't miss the flop, he got a prime draw.....

I chalk hands like this to be great examples of 'That's Poker'.

I think the hands you fold are more responsible for winning, than the ones you call.

Out of the 50 times I've played AJ once I flopped a straight and once a full house but it just looks too good to fold . I either get beat my AK AQ or if the board is low some1 has AX

Well he was set mining and sadly for you he hit. I read somewhere the maority of hands are won by 2pair and you did indeed have the top 2pair, so I would say good move, no good this time but +EV overall
