Anyone here who has some tips or good links for a special strategy for timed tournaments ? I think i will give them a try. They end after 15 or 30 mins and such. Very nice for people with limited playing time. pokerstars has a lot of these time mtt´s all day long.
I just read they should be played/treated like cash games, not like tourneys. But why should we play such time tourneys, we could play cash games instead ?
And does the OPR tracking site show these time tourneys ?)

I tried them a while back and was surprised to find almost nothing online relating to them. Don't know how much has changed since then but best of luck with the strat hunt anyway...

I play them now and again.

I see them more as a SNG with a MTT structure.

So because of that...

I've played loose early, either bust or built a stack
Middle waited for spots and good cards
Late stage/ last level - bullied or hung on, depending on chip size.

I never knew about these, but thats because i cant play on pokerstars. I think it would depend on the payouts worked out. If payouts are equivalent to how it would be in a cash game-then playing as a cash game is the way to go.

I would think playing tight is best way, try to take advantage of those that are playing a whole bunch of hands.

How do these tournaments work?? The players in the top % after the time limit win the pot??

I have never seen or heard of a timed tournament either. Interesting concept.
I would think playing loose early in an attempt to build a stack is the way to go, then tightening up as time winds down.

Not sure though since I don't know the slightest thing about them. Time to look into them I guess.

It's an interesting idea but I don't think I really like the idea of these type tournaments. I Just see it being more luck than actual skill and endurance to make it to the $$$

The way they work is

The prize pool is divided by the people left, based on their chip stack

these tourneys are based on luck and are a total gamble.play as tight as you can due to the nonstop all ins and hope you catch a big hand early. thats my advice.

Could not agree LESS !!!

No more a gamble than any other poker game.

However, I would play the opposite to vinyl - aggressive early, win or bust, then tight to last few mins, then steal :)

Yeah, I played them for fun on PokerStars. They are good because limited duration but luck is the main factor there, very short blinds time. Whole idea is good. :)

when i say tight in the beginning ,i mean dont get into an all inner with more than 1 person if possible. im not a nit.im the total opposite but i find that in the first 2-3 minutes there are way too many all-ins going on.i like to wait untill i can catch my first all in against 1 or 2 opponents at the very worst and ill open shove any suited ace or pocket pair with a smile on my face.
:D
