How many times poker disciplines will last. I think all disciplines eventually become tournament poker or gambling. I mean online poker.

High stakes online cash games are already a desert, but micro stakes games of all kinds are still totally alive. There are still a lot of people playing online poker for fun with absolutely minimal skills. They are just playing for 5 dollars at a time rather than 500 or 5000.
Poker is dying for years and it still alive. You still can make alot of money. Study and hard grind that's it.
I do not mean the death of poker in general. I'm talking about how poker will become a tournament and disciplines will become completly for gambling like spin'n'go flash.
Online cash games might not be, what they once were, but they are still alive and breathing. This weekend I saw 1.200 players on the 2NL 6-max Zoom table on Stars, which is about the highest number, I have ever seen.
To be honest poker sites could also do a lot to save cash games by lowering their rake. If I play a large tournament, I pay 10%, when I buy in, and then I can play for hours, sometimes many hours, without paying again. With cash however its 5%, every time a hand goes postflop.
I simply pay way more rake per hour, when I play cash, but I dont win more money on the tables, so its kind of a bad deal. And this for me right now is actually the main reason, why I focus on tournaments. If cash game rake was for instance 3%, it would be quite a different ball-game, but unfortunately that is not the case, and rake-back these days is generally a joke.
Poker will live forever.
And about the fact that it all comes down to the casino method, where recreational players will go by the method of push/fold poker, like tempest and so on.
I am not quite so pessimistic about it. After a while a game like Tempest might become monotone even for recreational players. A format like Spins has been available for many year already, but you still see plenty of recreational players in more traditional tournaments, at least up to a certain buyin.
Hopefully the governments will stop ruining the game we love so it can grow again.
Poker will live, the excitement and thirst for "easy" money will always keep it afloat, although, of course, it will never become an Olympic disciplineHow many times poker disciplines will last. I think all disciplines eventually become tournament poker or gambling. I mean online poker.
