They call me bubble boy, yes and those who know me know that I am well annoyed....

I have a problem playing the bubble. There are so many different times that I have been in a position with my stack that I could've very easily sat tight, waited for the bubble to burst and then slid into at the very least a small payout. In fact in the past two days it has happened twice. As the bubble approaches I always tell myself I am going to slow down this time. It's my desire to finish higher up on the payout ladder that drives my to play fast and hard on the bubble. I will say that sometimes it works, but it seems more times than not I hit the rails as the bubble boy.

Should I just slow my roll and take the smaller payouts? How do I find that balance? How do you decide on how fast or slow you play when you are on the bubble? What factors motivate your decisions?

When You are short You should play more tight as usual, but If You have a lot of chips You should make pression on short stacks and attack them a lot. Bubble is very nice part of game ;]

Here is a video that really changed how I play MTTs in the bubble and later stages.

This is how I went from only consistent min-cashes/bubbles and few final tables to making consistent deep runs, final tables, and ~20 MTT wins over various sites in a short period and very little volume.

Bubble — a stage of the CIS of a tournament when players remains one more, than prize-winning places. I.e. after one departure all others will get to prizes. Bubble is very important part of a tournament which should be studied at poker lessons. A competent game at this stage leads to hit in prizes and to earnings of money. First of all, it is worth assessing a situation at a table, to analyse information on opponents which you collected throughout all tournament and to estimate the size of the stack.

I will add. Determine what you want - get a spot in the money, or double the stack for further play in this tournament. The answer is not always unambiguous for all occasions.

Position, chip stack, and chip stack of opponents to your left still to act are most important near the bubble. This is a very good time to eat the blinds if paying attention to opponents and chip stacks and position.

I use to hate the bubble but now I look forward to it. Knowing your opponents tendancies helps a ton too.

if you are on the bubble in last place i assume , then you should wait for premium hand and shove all in at the right spot , , if your are 2-3rd to last on the bubble depending on tourny , it may be wise to wait it out even if you have a premium hand.

I try to get more chips to the bubble, so as not to be in such a situation.

Dont need to write stupid thoughts like this.

slow and steady wins the race my friend. Don't play fast because you feel lucky, sometimes it will pan out but mostly it won't. As long as you're winning, just take the smaller payouts for now until you're a high roller

you have to come up with your strategy for the tournament prior.

are you just trying to cash, OR are you trying to win the tournament outright and position yourself to do so by collecting as much chips as you can to dominate the final table?

if youre just trying to cash and get into the money somewhere, which is where i think your goal is, i would just sit out on the bubble. it sounds like youre over 15 big blinds or 10 orbits on average at this time, force the other players to make moves under the pressure.
