Taking shots

Basically, sometimes I'd like to take shots at serious money tournaments.

I will probably use some satellites to get to play the big ones.

Obviously those WCOOP freerolls are very good at giving us a chance to make a big score.

But my question is more about where to concentrate my efforts. Which sites and which tournaments (buyin, number of players, payout structure) to choose.

I'd like to avoid pokerstars as the fields are enormous and the players are more skilled.

I'm sure there are some good value tournaments some place.

888 poker tends to be great for tournaments if your looking to get a big cash.

you will probably walk your way to a final table in the micro's in fields of 180 to 700/800 players.

the high buy ins are still very bad, you tend to find the players that do well on 888 are the tight straight forward easy to predict players playing abc.
as predominantly the dumb asses pay off the tight players at 888.
You will ofcourse come across the occasional maniac or solid player. but you can prob count them on one hand.

Titan/william hill poker is also extremely terrible, and you will be able to take advantage of 90% of the players

In the micros I would agree that there's alot of weak players on 888. As you move up in buyins it is just like anyother site, you run into ALOT of regs.

I haven't played much on 888 for the past 2yrs. and when I did play in some tourneys I was surprised to find that 75%+ of the table were winning regs. Wasn't a high buyin > $35 Fri Challenge.

cotta suggesting that 90% of the players are bad on iPoker is a huge exaggeration imo. Again it is like anyother site >> you'll run into alot of regs. once you move beyond the micros.

Not sure if you've played it before but the 50seat (or sometimes 60seat) $30+3 satty to the $215 $200k on iPoker is a decent satty to take a shot at a higher buyin. (they've also got super satellites for it, ie. $4 buyin, 15-20seats gtd.).

I think there is no soft tourneys at this level. I won a couple of satellites and played in the 33$, 109$ and 215$ on iPoker. Not an easy field.

I don't like to play rebuys because if you don't rebuy and addon you are at a big disadvantage. So you have to pay big $ to compete.

888 has a 100K but it is rebuy. The 250K whale is freezeout I think. But much harder to get in via satellites.

I don't know much about bodog 100K since I'm new to Bodog.

that one ^ is very soft!

so is the Lock Poker $50k ProElite - $135 buyin (it's got ALOT of freerollers who've won a ticket for it) There's a 50seat freeroll running every Saturday that has ~1,100 entrants. Many times I've come close to cashing in it (top75-80) & yesterday I went out 52nd (lol AJ < K7 < seems some players are trying to win TWO tickets when the most they can win is ONE ).
I have won a couple tickets for it though (& costs nothing to have that freeroll table up on screen on Saturdays). Playin' $50k ProElite right now.

Hope you ship it!

I'll probably create an account at Lock Poker. What is the minimum deposit?

I don't want to put much money on Lock Poker because they actually Lock your money in. Cashing out seems a nightmare, it takes a lot of patience.

I agree exaggeration when you move up in the stakes,
more regs etc..
I do find these easier to play against though say thus an example on pokertars equivelent buy in

in general if your starting in small buy in tournaments your going to be up against the majority of bad and unexperienced players
