Hello everyone,

There are many tournaments that have been discussed such as hyper and turbo speed tournaments but what about the long grinding tourneys that include blinds increasing every 10 minutes?

My pitfalls in these long grinding tournaments are

Not enough patience
Playing a good hand but being raised by another player
Chip stack gets grinded down because of small or bigger pots but not winning

So I ask to anyone, what helpful tactics and/or strategies can help to combat these pitfalls or just in general what plan of attack do you use in these long grinding tournaments?

Sounds like you could tighten up a bit and play less hands, or at least rethink the type of hands you are playing.

Make sure you are well rested and not distracted.

I tend to avoid going all in with anything lower than QQ, AQ preflop.

Aggression is good but as soon as you get a read that your opponent has a stronger hand you need to consider getting out of the pot.

I'd say if your opponent is calling or reraising post flop you want a minimum of top pair top kicker to go all in.

Take it one hand at at time and don`t be afraid to sit out for 10mins to take a breather,it`s a marathon, not a sprint and can`t be won in the first hour, but can be lost.

This is only if you are playing online tournaments. If you are getting bored at a tournament then I suggest playing multi tables or watching a tv show. That way you can wait for good hands to show up. But a advice that I would give you is to reraise them when you have a really good hand. But if the first fire doesn't work then I usually give up. Also be aggressive when you hit the flop and don't ever slow play a hand because that gives your opponent a chance to catch up and you don't want that to happen.

When playing online, the best way to play a tournament is to afk it. Focus on other things outside so you won't get bored. Like Netflix or family

Here's my 2 cent

Not enough patience

Try meditation. Try to keep your calm for 15 mins a day and see it work its magic.

Playing a good hand but being raised by another player

Have a plan for each hand you play. If you raise, get 3-bet, have a 3-bet calling range, 4-bet raising range, folding to a 3-bet range.

Chip stack gets grinded down because of small or bigger pots but not winning

Have a strategy for how you're going to navigate each stage of the tournament. Have a set target (stack size goal) for each stages, and plan how you're going to achieve it.

Hope it helps.
